Run for cover, hide your kids, hide your wife...an 80's Toyota enthusiast has just joined the forum! :bolt:

There goes the neighborhood...

I'm Thom, a photographer located just outside Madison, WI. I've been a Toyota guy since I was 16, and I've been polishing things most of my life. My dad started me off with polishing the wheels on his 1970 Mustang Mach One...probably a smart move, free labor and no bending involved. :props: I went through several Supras before winding up with my current car, a 1987 Cressida...which wasn't much of a change considering it shares its motor, trans, diff, suspension, brakes, etc with the Supra.

Anyway, we all like photos...

Not bad for 275,000 miles and a hair over 24 years, eh?

24 years old with 275,000 miles is a real testimony for Toyota technology back in the 1980's.

Looks like you've really kept her up well...

Thanks guys.

It still has the original 5M-GE with the A340e behind it. I've been doing maintenance stuff so far, but it's lowered on MR2 AGX front and Camaro AGX rear with pitstop springs. (700lb/in front, 500 rear) Swapped out the rear for a 3.73 LSD. Working on replacing the entire brake system with brand new goodies this week. Next mod will be 16x8 +0 wheels. Next year it gets a 1UZ-FE (Lexus 4.0L DOHC V8) with a w58 behind it, and maybe Serial Nine coilovers if I can swing it.

7M-GTE would be an easier swap, and I have tons of experience with making 7M's scream... but I need something I can drive daily, and the ~300hp I'll get with the lexus v8 is enough for something I intend to drive daily. If that's not enough, I can throw a turbo and megasquirt into the mix and have a reliable 500hp grocery getter. :dblthumb2:

I'll have to post a thread when I get a chance to fix up the supra p-type wheels that are on it. They're pretty nasty from sitting outside last winter.

Here's some Collinite 476s beading porn as a bonus, since it's raining today and I can't wrench on it.

Nice car. I have driven the later generations of Cressida's (late 1980s early 1990s) and loved the blend of power and luxury. These really were understated sports sedans (kind of like a spiritual forebearer of cars like the Lexus IS250). It is great to see one in that good of shape.

Other countries got the fun motors.

The later cressidas share parts with the 86.5-92 Supra. In the US, those supras came with either the non-turbo 7M-GE at 190hp or the turbo 7M-GTE at ~240hp. US cressidas got the 7M-GE. In Japan, Supras came in several other flavors...including the 1JZ-GTE, a 280hp twin turbo 2.5L i6...so the cressida (cresta or mark II over there) also had those.

Oh well. Half the fun is pulling the motor so you can clean everything and swap in your nice shiny built one :buffing:

So true! Just like BMW's MZ3's came over here with 330 HP and over seas 360hp!... I know it is only 30 hp but come on now...

Get us some interior shots of that beautiful Lady!

This is an old one from a couple days after I had picked it up in Chicago. Hadn't had a chance to clean it up yet. I might take some new shots tomorrow, hopefully the rain will be done.

I guess two and a half decades of working those pedals will take a toll on a floor mat, that's the original one.
