I am washing my dirty towels today and wonder "When do others throw out their towels"?

Do you do it when they are stained, torn, etc?

Thanks.

I don't throw them out until they start to shred or if they lose their knap or get abrasive for some reason. When they get stained I move them to my wheel and tire towels.

Never!!!!! LOL, I like to wash my tires with an mf towel after its initial scrubbing with a wheel brush.

Sorry, I know that doesn't answer your question but just wanted to throw that out there. They can be downgraded when they are no longer safe for another job.

Their life evolves from buffing to general maintenance to a garage rag then I give them a decent burial... The trash....

For me this is the MF towel life span: from glass/paint, goes to door jambs, then tires/wheels, then engine bay and then to oil changes, then they can RIP :D

i cut a hole in them after they have been booted from paint, generally i have got something on the mf that i dont want on the paint, then i stick im with the knife to be sent to tires and such

When they get pretty stained they might see one more job or tossed

Never unless they get shredded. They just get relegated to dirty duty.

I throw them away when they get really gunked up from a dirty job, like my first engine detail, or when I drop them and a whole bunch of crap sticks to it. Easier to just throw it away if its a cheap towel then spend a bunch of time picking out the dirt/sticks, whatever haha.

There's always a use for them. I toss em' when washing them doesn't return them to a somewhat normal color or they get caked with something nasty.

Usually the last duty they serve is cleaning up spills as a shop rag.

the only ones I toss are the wheel well towels. They get so nasty I can't get them clean. I just buy the terry pack or the MF pack at Sams and use them as disposable because they are so cheap.

The garbage men must love you :dblthumb2: lol

I never throw mine out unless they are falling apart. They get progressively moved down the pecking order. Wheels and tires, boat and jetski's, metal polishing, engines, etc.
