New Tile Floor Going In...
We have a brand new tile floor going in this week to update the studio with a fresh look for our future projects and for the 2nd season of What's in the Garage? which will start filming in January.

Here's a few pictures that show where we started from to where we're at today and after the new floor goes in this week I'll update this thread with some pictures of the new tile floor.


In the beginning, the studio was without form and void; and darkness was all there was, but changes were on the way...

How 'bout a forum give-away? :laughing:

I just spent $800 on the racedeck-type tiles for my garage; lucky for me Costco had them on sale. Haven't had the chance to get them installed yet though.

It'll be interesting to see what is going in to replace the floor in the studio!

I have always wondered how tile would work in the garage. Too slippery? Either way, The Show Car Garage should look awesome. Reminds me that I have to get off my butt and lay the 450sf of Race Deck flooring sitting in boxes in the Art of Shine - Shine Mahal.

I have always wondered how tile would work in the garage. Too slippery? Either way, The Show Car Garage should look awesome. Reminds me that I have to get off my butt and lay the 450sf of Race Deck flooring sitting in boxes in the Art of Shine - Shine Mahal.We installed a tile floor in a out service drive it didn't work out that well we ended up removing for the reason you mentioned , Too slippery and the content cars driving over it the tiles became loose in a short amount of time . They may work out in a home garage or Auto Geek's studio since they don't have the traffic we had over them .

What type of tiles were they, Adam? There's a Chevrolet dealer here that has a floor of what I'd call terrazzo tiles in the service drive and delivery bay that has been in place for over a decade now, and it still looks great.

Baller. Looks like mine. Mine was a lot less expensive though. Different animal altogether as race deck and VCT are very different products. You can call mine the poor mans race deck. :props:

Last year about this time when Max and I flew to Evansville, Indiana to shoot how-to features with Dennis Gage for My Classic Car we met Jorgen Mollor, the CEO of SnapLock Industries (http://www.snaplock.com/). See this thread (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/off-topic/29740-one-week-road-max-operation-comfort.html).

I talked to him about the tile we were currently using and the issue of dirt penetrating into the pores of the plastic making the tiles very difficult to clean. He suggested we use a tile he offers that has a glaze finish that wipes clean much easier. So that's the tile we're switching too...

We cleaned the concrete floor this morning so the new tile will be going in sometime this week.
