Well as I grow older and start (or enhance) my family the Vette is becoming less and less practicle. It currently has less than 10,000 miles on it in the 18 months since new. It sits in the garage all weekend as to small for traveling with our son Chris. (second son due in May) I have an opportunity to pickup a nice used car at a super deal. Dont really want to burden family with two car payments, since mommy is a stay at home "domestic specialist" .... so whats the thought ???

I'd go for a used 05/06 E55 or E63, I was kinda dissapointed in the STS-V, Caddy was at Sebring one day we were there racing with an XLR-V and STS-V (think I mentioned that to you long time ago?). I didn't try the XLR but the STS really let me down, for it's power output it was basically only as quick as a regular CTS-V. An E55 or 63 would just obliterate it. I was really expecting it to be quite quicker then it was. I do like that color you posted though, what is it? It's like a pearl turquoise. Guzzles just like the E55 though which is odd again considering they dropped the Northstar .2 litres in displacement for the V. Grandparents had the E55 (03) we had some issues but that year had some bugs that shoulda been worked out, used to take it to Moroso with some guys from the Benz board, they traded it for the Jag XJR which is great but not as quick.

Actually now that I just mentioned that, I would look into the XJR as well, it drives great. And thanks to bad depreciation like Caddy you can find great deals on an 05/06. The new Jags are very reliable, got theirs from Alpine near you.

But what about the SRX? You have that so why not keep the Vette? Or are you just trying to find one vehicle to have, in which case an E55/E63, STS-V, XJR would have the room for family but sportiness at the same time.

The Vette .... or Mommys Cadillac SRX (owned)

not looking for other options, The Mercedes and other options offer little to me based upon high ownership costs and high "required" service intervals. Cadillac offered 6yr/100k b-to-b warranty. Tires and oil ... thats all !! I also personally believe in supporting the US whenever possible.

Scott, I too had to make that decision and it's quite a simple one. You have to do what's right for your family, which I know you will do because you are a smart guy. The Caddy is VERY nice and is still nicer than most anyone's personal vehicle I know. The Vette is gorgeous, but not practical for a family man IMO, unless you can afford both. I have a feeling you don't have a problem with your income, and although you can probably afford both of them I see no sense in straining yourself financially being the only provider. Plus, you don't need 3 vehicles. You can always go back to the vette in a few years when the Caddy's paid off;) And who know's what a 2012 Vette will look like.....and it's likely to have 500+hp:D

I'd take the Caddy in a heartbeat.....very nice ride!!! Looks like a great deal too....which helps the decision along a little:p Good luck in whatever decision you make:cheers:

Tires and oil ... thats all !!Still kinda confused as you own the SRX, so that should be fine for family duties and leave you with the Vette for fun. Or are you getting rid of the SRX, or just trying to have a more "useable" car for yourself if your wife needs to use the SRX?

That is a good deal though especially with the warrenty, is this Coral Cadillac? Their a great dealer. One of the few "American" dealers that approaches the overall feel you get from like JM Lexus. I voted for the STS, I do like that color, what is it?

The SRX is the wifes car/truck. With a new baby in the home, she will need it much more often for the 1st years doctors appts. (average 1 monthly) Both children with be enrolled in MyGym (Chris already is) as it gives them socialization and mommy some outside contact. Security also suggests a vehicle is always available.

The Vette has been my daily driver. While at one office in Dania Beach, it worked as impractical. Drove daily, sat all weekend. And no I dont want to get rid of it, and yes I can afford two car payments, but a depreciating item versus 10%+ in the market for growth is my concern. (100,000 in cars for personal use seems extravagent) I do also now have six offices under my command and will likely move up to 12-15 before years end meaning alot of car time.

Because of my fathers past and current contacts, he was a Buick GM, he can get added items for very little to no charge. Obviously extended warranty is easy deal, with a very small check and some paperwork, adding two years with no deductible over standard warranty. Benefit to American cars is ease in warranty repairs, ease in replacement transportation (rental cars at no cost), and little proof in maintenance. M5 and Mercedes are not all that to me, and smaller size and consistent servicing is just not my personal cup of tea. When I truly look at cost, servicing, and depreciation the STS-V makes alot of sense, especially at 27k off window pricing and 4000 miles.

The color is Stealth Grey Metallic, a blue-grey blend. I also have a line on a silver unit and thunder grey (dark grey) as wanted. I would prefer black/ebony interior but silver has held well in SRX since purchased new in 06. Having had a CTS and SRX (exact same inside as CTS, just up higher with larger cargo area) the bigger STS is to my liking.

I truly want a car I can jump into and run to the corner for groceries. I can also still have the performance I desire. Over time I am sure that some tuning, Iforged Wheels, Corsa Exhaust, and pulley can/will be done. Do I need it ??? Doubtful in this traffic nightmare we call Florida. Truly a crossroads ....

Go for the Caddy! Life is change (spoken by someone with the same car for 11 years)
Take the V badges off and you have the sleeper of the year. That would have to be worth some grins. When was the last time you got to put the vette to its true potential anyway?

PS wish I could find a deal like that out here

I would take the vette any day. I don't care much at all for the way the new caddy's look. GM has to offer a 100 mi warrenty to try and get people to buy their cars. They really need to just make better cars. The Corvette is the best car they make. As long and you have another car for the family keep the Vette.

So from what you are saying, you have a loan payment on the Vette? You obviously have a good paying job if you have a Vette and say you could afford two payments. If I were you I would sell the Vette, and buy a something much cheaper like used Charger or 300C with a Hemi, or maybe a Cadillac. Then I would save for a couple years until I could pay cash for the next car, and then start saving for the next Vette. Maybe if you have room for three cars you could find a cheap '70s or 80's Vette to play with until you buy the one you want. Those can be had for less than $10K pretty easy.

If you can't tell, I'm all about saving money :D And from your comment about the market you obviously are at least a little concerned about having enough money for the future, so that should be the #1 priority.

what about a Audi RS4, mmmmm...... idk how big they are inside tho. but as I said before the caddy seems to be the best bet for your situation looking at both thoese cars
