What water do you use to dillute chemicals?

So what water do you all use or recommend to dilute chemicals?

Tap water? Distilled water? filtered water?

Any input would be great.

I use tap. I would imagine distilled would be best. Big enough difference in my opinion... no?

I use distilled water..distilled water is mineral free...less chance of adding minerals to the solution to change the ability of the product...some water is high in Calcium ..so it can neutralize some chemicals..like wheel cleaners with a lite acid base...also minerals used in a mix of APC and water can cause a haze on plastic...for 50 cents a gallon at wal mart...I would use distilled water....I make pure dionized water(as good as distilled) for my salt water reef tanks..I have 200 gallons on hand at all times...

also hard mineral water has adverse effects on soaps..can make them less effective...thats why people put water softners in the house...soap will not work good with hard water

distilled water is likely the manufacturers choice ... if you have filtered water it should work as well.

We have very good water in upstate New York so most of the time I use tap water.
My son lives in Indy and the water is very bad, even to drink.
So he uses distilled.

my distilled water comes from wal-mart, since most places charge insane prices (over $1.50 for a single gallon!). Wal-mart charges about 60 cents. I don't like Wal Mart and as a matter of principle don't usually shop there, but when a man needs distilled water he needs distilled water :p

I do use tap water with certain things... like my 4:1 dilution of Meg's APC (used for engine cleaning). There's no point wasting distilled water with things like that.
