5.9 earthquake in VA. We had pretty violent shaking here in central MD. Scary! First on this strong since 1865 or so. Crazy stuff!

Report here if you were in the east coast and felt it.

I'm currently in Bridgeport, WV and experienced it. My wife is 150 miles south in Charleston, WV and she sent me a text at the same exact time I sent her one. I've always wondered when our fault line would become active.

I was driving around DC, didn't feel it at all. One picture feel over at my house, but that is all the damage. People are really blowing this way out of proportion....

Probably because the fault line hasn't been active for over 100 years. It was a weird feeling but not enough to shut down buildings in my state (yes it happened, not mine).

Really? Wonder why we haven't heard much about it being active? Oh well, doesn't matter I suppose. LOL@slackers...so true

It's amazing you didn't feel it because according to DrudgeReport it was felt in NYC and all the way to Toronto. Did Steve feel it? Most of the people around that were inside felt it but those outside didn't feel anything. Weird.

Mom and Dad felt it in Wilmington NC,

I was around the Fayetteville, NC area and I did not feel it but had two co-workers that said they did.

Sister is in Cary NC and she did not feel it.

It seems like folks that were sitting down at the time felt it more than others in our area that were walking or moving.

I felt it and it swayed me around in my office chair. It was pretty strong and very unusual.

I was on the 5th floor of an office building waiting for the elevator to go down. The building started to shake and then started swaying and then the ground felt like the floor was rolling. You could actually see the walls moving back and forth. Hope everyone is safe.
