Evening everyone, just got done replying to a post and realized my car's starting to look dirty and I'm itching to wash it. Only thing is it's bout 28 here in Jersey. Are car washes to be avoided like the plague? what are my options? I did klasse AIO and 2 coats of klasse sealant 3 weeks ago...any recommendations? Thanks

Your best bet would be to get aquainted with DP's 4-in-1 wash. You can wash your car in your garage, and you can even move a small heater in there, and wash your car in a warm garage..

DP Four-In-One Rinseless Wash & Shine - Four exceptional car care products in one bottle all you need is a gallon of water! (http://www.autogeek.net/dp-rinseless-four-in-one.html)

It requires VERY little water, and no hose. It makes for quality washes, without going outside in that kind of weather, and easy clean up.

If you have any more questions, keep em coming.

I hope this helps..

DP 4-in-1 is the only way to go when it is cold out IMO. I do what Nick suggests and wash it in the garage with a heater and also you can fill your buckets up with warm water so your hands stay nice and warm as well. My first time I got a bit of water on the floor but, as my technique with DP 4-in-1 improves the amount of water on the ground is alot less. Mike...

I live in the Philly area and have the same problem but have washed my car 4-5 times. I like to go thru a touchless car wash. There are no brushes, just an arm moving around the perimeter of the car spraying it with soap and water. I think they are also called tunnel spray washes. I usually get the very basic wash, no sealant. Once the wash is done I drive around to one of the open bays, take out some towels and QDer and start drying. I like using the QDer to help lubricate as the wash doesn't get all the dirt off. Many don't like using a car wash as the soap can be strong, removing your wax and/or sealant. But I find it a quick way to clean.

nic19 and strokin04, I've read about DP 4-1, and you guys obviously know what you're talking about eventhough it's hard for me to imagine how little water is needed..keep thinking I'm gonna scratch it up. I know I'm probably gonna order it, but have to wait awhile. My wife thinks I'm nuts, being a 2 washes a year guy before. But I want to keep the new car nice. Yankeefan, maybe I'll give a touchless place a try if there is one around here. A yankee fan around philly, bet you that can be rough. My son just got some tickets. He's a yankee fan from birth, my other son's a mets fan. It's crazy around here during the subway series. Anyway thanks for the quick replies, you guys are great.

Hey beenj, PM me your address, and I'll send you a sample of DP's 4-in-1 so you can try it out first.

Regarding the Yankees, I like one of your sons....LOL! I grew up in Brooklyn, moved here in '91. Philly area is tough as many truly dislike what their teams don't do each year plus many dislike NYC, feel like 2nd fiddles. I like Philly, offers NY stuff but not as crowded or nasty. I have season Sunday tickets, get to see about 10 games, sell the other 5 or 6.

Good luck with the car cleaning. Hey, I heard it was going to be mid-30's on Saturday, just wash it then. I've washed it as low as 36 degrees. Use warm soap water. Once I start washing and waxing my coat usually comes off. Neighbors walk past shaking their heads but who cares.......at this point I just want a clean car.

DP 4-in-1. I use a two bucket method, one for rinsing dirty towel ( I wash with Cobra detailing cloth MF towel), and two gallons of warm water in each.

I do the same only I use my ShMitt to wash.
Even though the temps here this weekend are going to be outrageously cold - windchills of -16 to -30 - I'm still going to wash my truck today with DP 4-in-1. I have to have a clean truck in the garage for Sunday when our friends come over for our SuperBowl party. :D
