n00b - with DA question

Hey guys, first time poster here though I've been browsing for some time. I've got a 65 Chevy II Nova, I'm in the process of working out some defects in the paint. The paint is in fair to decent condition, by no means a $20k body/paint work. My goal is to eliminate some of the slight oxidation and hazing, but mainly the stubborn water spots.

I'm working with a Griots DA and LC CCS Orange pad. At first I tried Meguiars Utimate Compound on speed 4 with good success on the oxidation but the water spots were still visible. I've tried M80 as well, seemed better spots but still visible. See last picture for reference. Do I just live with these or can they safely be removed. I'm learning as I go here, but this forum and experience really help! Thanks guys.

It is single stage paint, which is why I went for the M80. I was under the impression it worked well for SS paints and is similar to M7?

read those article. number 7 doesnt cut, but can rejuvenate, you can follow up with polishin/compounding to see how well your paint is first instead of cutting into it first

It didn't work on speed 4, so why not try speed 6? Isn't that least to more aggressive?

there is a possibility the single stage is dried out so you need to rejuvenate it with oil first. if you skin is dry, do you exfoliate it for newer skin or put lotion on it??

Thanks for the feedback. I have read the single stage paint article many times before starting this job, I'm not just jumping in. The paint was never neglected, and it's been waxed and LSD'd frequently for a while. However, recently I've just gotten the balls to address the water spots. As mentioned before, hazing and oxidation were minimal if present. So I didn't just pick up my DA and start with the most aggressive pad and compound. I actually started with a LC white pad and M205, then moved slightly more aggressive to an orange pad with the UC, before going to the M80. But I will pick up some M7, I just didn't realize it would remove water spots. :)

Well then, I will go get some M7 and do the hand thing. Then come back and post the same question and see if the answer is different. :bolt:
