I recently got a porter cable 7424xp and some Wolfgang Total swirl remover and Finishing glaze.

I tested it out on my hood and it worked great but I was mainly wondering how long I need to buff it on for, from what I've heard you apply a polish till it breaks down?? but how exactly do I know if it is broken down

Also, is there a reason behind working in 2x2 sections? can I work in larger sections without negative consequences?

Any tips on using the PC7424xp with polish wax etc would also be appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Normally you want to do anywhere from around 6 to 8 section passes and then wipe off and inspect.

Watch this video and read the text on the page as it explains everything.

Normally a 2 x 2 foot section is too large and you'll get better swirl removal results by working a smaller area. Removing swirls means removing a little paint to level the surface, that's technically what you're doing.

Modern clear coat paints tend to be hard, at least harder than all the other paints we've used in the history of the automobile, (just a little over 100 years now), and if you try to tackle to large of an area you won't remove paint effectively which means you won't remove swirls effectively.
