Great pictures, how about a little background on what you plan. Slab, building, interior, etc.

Jeff,

Good things take time and I'm willing to bet once finished your garage will be quite a place. I see you're building it out of block, I think this is a wise choice..Don't forget to keep the thread going with more photos! :props:

It is going to be on a slab with a drain in the middle of the floor...I don't plan to do washes on the inside but I wanted a drain so I could clean it eaiser and quicker.

Once the slab is poured they will use trusses and 2x4's for the framing out, add a metal roof, then brick the exterior to match my house.

The interior will be finished out to a certain degree, no sheetrock but the studs will be insulated and covered.

Wish I could build a garage, just don't have room. Can't wait for updates! Are you installing a lift? What about a compressed air system? What other plans do you have?

"whats the footings extended out the front for? "

My thoughts also. Just because I'm in the building trade also.

No lift yet I do need one though as my knees are wearing out. I do plan on buying a compressed air tank in the future, just trying to get in right now.

You have a nice set-up Tim!!:props: My interior walls are going to be like yours. I'm going to install some shelving, some pegboard, and have a few storage pieces I bought at Sam's Club. My garage door is going to be 12ft wide, I'm going to have an attic fan (some people call them whole house fans) installed, and the lighting is something I'm still looking into. I've subscribed to Kristopher's thread currently running about lighting trying to get some ideas.

Any and all suggestions will be appreciated, and if there was something you could have done and didn't, what would that have been?

Jeff my shop was exsisting when i bought the house, but it was very limited in its usefullness.I installed the garage door in the end of the building added the driveway, removed a wall in the center and completly remodeled the interior to suit my needs at the time. Its 19ft x 34ft and im outgrowing it very quickly.

If you build what you think you need you'll run out of space. Double the size! LOL

If this posts twice forgive me and my ignorance of uploading pics....This is day five of the construction. The floor after it had been poured...Day four was spent leveling out the inside of the building putting down wire,a good layer of gravel, and a vapor barrier. They also dug the trenches for my electricty and water (sorry I didn't get pics of that).

They said that once the floor is cured that the walls and roof was next and I would be amazed at how fast that would go...

Thank you all for looking and I will keep updating as progress is made.
