After purchasing Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant (WETS) and applying it to my faded wiper cowl on my F-150 and not getting the results that I was hoping for, 05xrunner was generous enough to send me a small sample of Ultima Tire and Trim guard (UTTG) to compare it to the WETS. Thanks again 05Xrunner, I really appreciate it.

I began by cleaning my wiper cowl the best I could with what I had on hand. I used Meguiar's Safe Degreaser and a tooth brush and microfiber towels to clean everything up. I then taped everything off for the application WETS to the passenger side and the UTTG to the driver side.

Next I applied WETS to the passenger side.

I then applied the UTTG to the drivers side and then after everything dried, I removed the tape to compare both sides.

Both products smelled and applied very similar to one another and both sides look exactly the same to me after application.

WETS side.

UTTG Side.

So I am going to keep updating this thread periodically to compare how the 2 products compare to each other as far as looks and durability over time.

Thanks again to 05xrunner for generously providing me with the sample of UTTG to compare. :props:

It will be great to see what happens. F150 definitely has a fading problem. see it all the time. Thanks for the review.

I used the Wolfgang Trim sealent on my Ford Expedition and didn't get the results I was hoping for either. Glad you found something that works well I will have to include one of those in my next order.

I got uttg on my wiper cowl and ets on all the box trim on an 04 f-150 flareside. I do like them both. I do still have to reapply every month or so. I'll be getting some c4 to try though

Great stuff. Not cheap, but well worth the price.

Newb question for ya. How do you get into all of the cracks and crevaces? The fine detail on that cowl must take a while.
Also, how's it holding up?
Thanks for replying.

I fold the round foam applicator in half and then work it into each of the square holes of the wiper cowl with my finger. It is tedious and takes a little while, but I don't know of any better way of doing it unless you bought the foam stick type applicators, which is a stick with a square piece of foam on the tip. those would probably make it a little easier.

:updated:

It has been about a week and a half to 2 weeks now since application and both UTTG and WETS still appear to be holding up well. Both sides (UTTG & WETS) still look the same to me. They both look good.

I was able to do my f-150 cowl with just a round applicator also , but I don't have big hands and fingers . lol . them cheapy foam painters brush work well too, can get them in various widths and can even trim them down even skinnier yet if ya want to .
