Hi, had a friend drop his windscreen and put an 11" scratch across the middle of it. I restore headlights, so I figured I'd give it a shot. It seems to have 2 layers like a new headlight that is difficult to remove, and you can see the transition between the two. A headlight is small enough that you can remove all of the top layer and refinish it. This windscreen is Huge and taking the whole top layer off and starting over would take forever. I'm wondering if a clear coat might hide the transition, has anyone tried this or have a remedy? Thanks

Most OEM motorcycle shields have a harder exterior anti-scratch/chip coating. If you polish through the coating you end up with a visible spot and possible visual distortion. No way I know of to refurb a large scratch or chip that breaches the coating. If it's bad enough perhaps a replacement is in order.

Personally, I use less expensive aftermarket shields. They're easier to correct without a hard coating and cheaper to replace when necessary.

Thanks,
I'll probably end up experimenting on this if I get the go ahead.
