Ok guys... any advice or knowledge on Dodge finishes, and what might work best...tips etc. Long story short I bought an 04 Ram SRT-10, that looks killer from 10-feet out, but needs correction. I have hit this entire truck with a Clay bar, Pinnacle's XMT Line Intermediate Swirl Remover Package (XMT 3 with a LC Orange Pad, XMT 1 with a LC White Pad, followed by XMT Finishing Glaze with a LC Black Pad, and 360wax)... I am stumped because I really dont seem to be getting the expected results. I have prior experience with this package, I was VERY happy with the results on my 01 Camaro SS (Also Red)... but with this truck, i am having a hard time correcting things that went away easily on the SS... and areas I have corrected some, I still have persistent micro marring, and i have been working small sections, at medium machine speed, and allowing the product to break down and work... Any advice or tips on products to try, methods to use etc? THANKS!

Ram paint is usually pretty easy to work on. I have not used the XMT line on a dodge before, but i have been able to deliver near perfect results using Menz SIP followed by 85rd consistently. As far as pads go, lc flat orange with the sip and a rotary followed by an lc flat black for 85rd on a rotary leaves paint nearly perfect. If 1 more step is needed I would use a DA with the same 85rd combo.

The reason I prefer a rotary for the dodge paint is that it is a bit on the hard side but seems clear up very nicely with a rotary with little or no swirls or holograms.

If you are limited to a DA, try stepping down to a smaller pad combo and working a smaller section.

Thanks for the input.... Yeah right now im DA only...

Oh and it goes without saying I need to figure out what works before wasting time and product on the whole truck like last time.... haha...

You may want to consider the Megs twins (105/205). Hit it with some 105 on an Orange pad on the DA, followed by the 205 with a white pad. You could also start with the 205 on white and see if that improves it at all. If not, then go for it with the 105. Follow that up with your favorite LSP.

I guess I would try the new MEGS microfiber pad system, 5" kit and also get the 3" pads as well. I am sure this will do that truck in grand fashion. I purchased the kit 2 weeks ago and tried the stuff out on a 2005 Mercedes Benz S500 sedan. I gotta say WOW it cleaned the paint like no tomorrow, and the finishing step was super glossy. I also after 24 hrs topped the thing with UPGP and then it was like the car was under glass...

For less than $100.00 bucks with extra pads I would hands down use this system on anything and everything...:dblthumb2:

Dodge paint and a DA only? M105 on a 5.5" Surbuf followed by Meg's mf cutting disk and D300, finish with M205 on white LC pad or Menzerna PO85RD on black/gray pad. XMT polishes have fillers.

+1
You can also try M105 with Surbuf then follow up with orange flat with M105 and finish with M205 with white flat.

Fillers huh, is this why I THOUGHT I was good to go, and later was like "wait a minute... I thought I got these out!?" haha

My husband has a dodge ram as well. I was going to try the DA MF 300/301 on it and see how it looks. I do owe it to my hubby after all the money I've spent on goodies lately.

That's a lot of real estate to cover so remember Mike's 2 favorite words "test spot".
