Hey guys. Here is my latest detail. Had almost 27 hours into this, as it was in very rough shape when it came to me. I also had some problems getting the paint to finish down (some of the softest clearcoat I've ever dealt with).

Honestly, it didn't come out as nice as I would have hoped - there are still water etchings all over the car, but it turned out 100% better than it was when I got it. The owner was more than pleased with the end results too.

Enjoy!

The owner also advised me of a "musty" smell coming from the interior of the car. After some investigation, I found this in the driver's side door.

WTH? Is that a rats nest? Ick! Great turnaround on that Mamba. I would be happy too if I were that customer. What was your process and product choices?

You did the car a favor. I can't believe the owner abused her like that. DON'T give it back.

What was that in the door?

Car looks great, you did a good job. Now I need to see some pics of that Dodge in the garage.

I think its a chipmunk nest. Thanks!!

Process was:
Tires - Bleach White
Wheels - Meg's Wheel Bright
Wells - APC
Assortment of brushes and rags used on wheels, tires, and wells.

Wash - PB SSS
Clay - Clay Magic blue (some tougher spots done with red)
Wash - PB SSS
Dried

PB SSR 2.5 via Makita Rotary and CCS orange
PB SSR 1 via Makita Rotary and CCS white
PB PwS via PC and CCS blue (x2)
I tried several different pad/polish combos to finish down on this, and the PwS gave the best results. Everything else I tried marred the paint to a point I wasn't happy with the results. I definitely need to expand my arsenal of polishes.

WG DGPS 3.0 - allowed to cure for 1 hour before being buffed off
PB Natty Red

Tires dressed with PB BnB gel
Wells dressed with PB BnB spray
Trim done with PB Trim Restorer

Thanks! I agree. The plaque inside says "173 of 200." Its a shame really. Believe me, I considered keeping it. He has an 05 STS-V that is in similar shape.

Maybe that stuff was a Mamba's nest !

And maybe the Mamba died because of how filthy the car was?

Its a 74 Challenger. It is in Carlisle for the Mopar nationals as we speak, but I'll see what I can do!

Very nice turn around. Especially since I though it was flat black special paint in the first couple of pictures.
Shameful how people let their cars deteriorate.
