This was the first time. Definitely has more cut than D300, took out some heavy defects very nicely, but finished with a significant amount more marring than D300(at least the car I worked on). It left hologram type marring in the paint. I had to use Menzerna Power Finish on an uber green polishing pad to remove the marring. M205 on the same color pad did not do any good.

Keep trying... :props:

Read the KBM - Pad Priming and Supplemental Wetting Agents article, too.

At this point in your polishing life, I think you'll understand and appreciate some of the stuff in it, especially the part about final polishing.

Kev,

Are you implying that I should be able to finish with a lot less marring in this situation, even on soft paint?

I always prime the pad. I'll PM you for a link for the article. :props:

Prime the pad with D300 and use M105 works great for me, get the almost no dusting of D300 and the cut of M105

I get excellent results with MF cutting pad and 105 MOST of the time but not always. Lexus and Lamborghini paint come to mind. If you get hazing step over to 205 and the MF polishing pad.

As you stated a quick follow up with a fine polish usually clears the haze up.
