Hey guys, been a while since ive been on the forum, sorry, busy with work and life, anyways, unfortunately its time for me to get rid of my ride, years have taken its toll and dont feel like putting anymore money into it, so ive been looking around, which is even more frustrating with my current financial situation, so of course limited to what I can buy. That being said I found as used f150 with decent miles on it and pretty decent condition overall, but unfortunately the previous owner was a smoker and of course its got a pretty strong smell, which sucks cause its a pretty good deal. So my question is, will it be possible to get the smell out completely and if so what the best way to go about it, what products or techniques are working for you guys. Thanks, any comments would be very helpful

Hello,

I am a smoker and every time I sell a vehicle I vanish the smoke by using these simple steps:

You need a HOT WATER EXTRACTOR...and some other products mentioned

-Remove the mats and push all seats back as far as you can so as much carpet is exposed as possible.
- Pre-Treat as much of the carpet as possible with DP Pre-Treatment or something equivalent.
- Do the same for the seats if they are cloth or upholstery.
- Use the hot water extractor with the solution you choose to suck the contamination and smell out of the carpets and seats. (that's where the smoke burrows)
- BUY A AIR FRESHENER CALLED OZIUM, or Poor Boys Air Freshener (USE THE ENTIRE BOTTLE THROUGHOUT THE CAR) Only with OZIUM.
-Clean the Plastics, Vynil and Rubber components within the car and coat them with a UV protectant.

This Process has helped me quite a few times.......Obviously be sure to clean windows, jambs, Glove Box's and be sure to change the cabin air filter if it has one.

If I can think of anything else I will post it.

P.S. USE GLOVES!!

Just light up a cigar, that should cover the cigarette smell. :close1:

I just steam everything..... then if for some reason that doesnt work (which it does 99% of the time) you can finish it off with an odor bomb. I get ALOT of deodorization jobs and all I ever do is steam everything (including in the vents).

I also agree with B&B. You have to kill the bacteria that is causing the smell!!

The headlining holds most of the smell. So that needs to be given a good clean. I use a foaming interior cleaner (autoglym high foam shampoo) as you shouldn't really use a pure liquid as it can cause the headlining to sag.

A good steam clean followed by Megs Odor Eliminator should do the trick.
