I just got my GG DA a few months ago and the only LSP I've applied with it is DG 111, I used a black LC flat pad and just spread it out real thin which worked great. I'm going to be doing a friends white car and decided to do the 501/105 combo on it. My question is since 501 is a cleaner do I need to "work" it more like a polish (do a few section passes), or just spread it like a wax?
Thanks, Daniel

Actually, it depends on how much correction you want. To just clean and seal - blue pad speed at 2-3, lite marred paint white pad speed 3-4

:iagree: Use the white pad at 3-4 or even higher. You'll be disgusted at what comes out of the paint. Wait to you see what your pad will look like. You've chosen an awesome combo for white paint BTW.

If one choose to top 501 with a non-DG product, does he have to let 501 cure first? Thanks.

Let it cure 12 hrs. But if you mix with DG601 (4:1) it will flash cure. IMO I would still wait and hour.

Collinite 845 is a great topper for this wombo.

I just did this combo a few weeks ago. Works and looks fantastic. Application was a GG Da with a crimson hydrotech pad at speed 4. Serious dirt was removed from the paint. I was amazed at the dirt it pulled off the paint of a truck that I had just thoroughly washed.

I waited an hour before topping with the 845. It was lunch time so I took a break.

Thanks guys, so I do need to slow my arm speed and work area down and work the 501 more to get the cleaning effect correct? With the 111 i just would do a whole panel at a time with a fast arm speed and just spread it around. She's not worried about correction just wants a "shiny" car :)

Yes, I slowed down and worked the product into the paint with light pressure on speed 4. Clean your pad frequently. I did a full size extended cab truck with a topper and only used 2 1/2 ounces of product.

You will be happy with your results.

Work the DG 111 like any liquid wax or sealant since it contains no cleaners. If you're in high humidity you may want to work one panel at a time, at least this has been my experience.

Is it okay to follow menz 85RD with the black pad with 501 with the white pad? Will this affect the jeweling?
How about following the 85RD with 501 with a black pad. Will this affect the jeweling?

I am not sure what your trying to accomplish. If your finish is already jeweled just use 111

I don't own 111 just 501. It is a cleaner sealant, right?

Then apply it by hand or with a pad that has no cutting abilities such as a blue, red, or gold pad. A white pad is made for polishing so it offers some cut. Not saying it will happen but if you have used PO85RD to jewel the paint, a pad that offers cutting ability may alter your finish.

*You should be able to pick up DG #111 at Napa for about $9.

The softest pad I have is black, which is supposed to have no cut, and so I shall apply it with that. I realize now that the 501 is an all-in-one.

If you have polished prior to using 501 then the 501 becomes an LSP instead of an AIO at this point. Your paint will be clean from the polishing process so you can use your black pad to apply the 501 with no pressure just as you would any wax or sealant. It should not effect your jeweling.
