Ok, yes, I see some VERY similar threads in many cases about people asking for advice on products and solutions for swirl removal and I have read them, but, lets face it, we all baby our cars and want feedback directed at us before making our choice. So I want to thank anyone who has enough patience to have not already moved on from my post, you're awesome!

SO here's my story. I'm a complete newbie. I have never done any detailing past weekly car washes. Of course in my ignorance I've created paint swirls in my paint and I'm now looking for solutions. Obviously getting a machine over using elbow grease is the best option, but, once again, I've never done this and I really don't want to make things worse because I don't know what I'm doing. :buffing:

I live in Phoenix, AZ (so HOT and SUNNY all the time) and I drive an Magma Orange 2007 VW GTI Fahrenheit.

Here is an image of my damage:

Also a video here on youtube (need to put it at 480p just to see the issue):

I want a tool and product that will help me remove the swirls and be good for adding a normal routine waxing every 3 months or so....

So, yeah, this where I need your awesome opinions and suggestions...I'd love to get something this weekend also since Fathers Day Sales are looking pretty nice here :)

Thanks!!

looks repairable with some time and effort.

Purchase the random orbital of your choice (Griots, Megs, PC)
Flexible 5 inch backing plate
5.5 inch Hydro-Tech Pads
Wolfgang 3.0 Polishes (Total Swirl Remover and Finishing Glaze)

Get a Griots Garage 6" dual action polisher with the Meguiars microfiber system. Happy detailing :props:

I would go with Meguiar's 105 and Meguiar's 205!

Get some LC Flat pads!

I agree with Maximus on the M105 and M205, just use it out of the hot AZ sun.:dblthumb2:

My personal preference is Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 3.0. It works MIRACLES and finishes out flawless in 1 step.

M105/M205 and a PC 7424XP 5.5" HT pads, 4" HT pads (all 3 colors) and backing plates to go with them. I have seen way too many GG take a crap shortly after buying them so stick with the more reliable machine.

Heck yeah! Orange is my favorite color...the whole car is all black and orange. I replaced anything that wasn't either of those colors (as you can see with black housing tail lights).

Either way, you guys are awesome...thanks for helping me narrow down my search. I'm going to start researching the products everyone mentioned right now!!

I know...double post but this is post research.

So what I have gathered (being a newbie) is that I should get:

Polisher:
Porter Cable 7424XP Dual Action Polisher (http://www.autogeek.net/porter-cable-7424xp.html)

Pads:
LC Flat (http://www.autogeek.net/lake-country-beveled-pad-kit.html)(w/ one of each color (5))
or
LC Hydro-Tech (http://www.autogeek.net/hydrotech-da-pads-3pack.html) (w/ one of each color (3))

Polish:
Wolfgang Swirl Remover 3.0 combo (http://www.autogeek.net/wolfgang-swirl-removers.html)
or
Meguiars Mirror Glaze #105 (http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-105-compound-8oz.html) w/ Meguiars Mirror Glaze #205 (http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-205-polish-8oz.html)

...a few questions

1) What's the difference between the Flat pads and the Hydro-Tech pads?

2) Should I also get a pad cleaner like the Pinnacle XMT Pad Care Combo (http://www.autogeek.net/xmtpadcacofs.html) or are they a waste of money?

3) Are 8oz bottles for either polish enough to polish my entire car?

Yes I know these questions make me look REALLY uniformed :p ....but thats because I am..haha
