Friend just bought the aluminum boat below. Although well cared for, he says the hull is oxidized, although I do see the trailer reflecting on the hull.

Thinking about using Duragloss 551 to clean the oxidation, then 501 to polish the hull and add some protection. Debating a coat of Colinite 850 to increase the protection.

Is there a better plan? Pad suggestions for using these products with a DA? Thanks for the input.

Is there any type of coating on the lower aluminum portion?

If it's bare aluminum then polish it using an aluminum polish, if it's coated then we need to find out what kind of coating is on it before you start polishing. For the painted upper section, a simple one-step cleaner/wax should work to remove oxidation and restore clarity, gloss and protection.

Actually, if the lower aluminum looking section has a coating on it, as long as it's not anodizing, (and that's unlikely), then the one-step cleaner/wax should work well on it too...
