I am currently using Meguiars APC to clean my engine and engine bay compartment, it's and ok product but for the engine bay I think something else can do better. I think that the standard APC is more designed for interiors anyways. My engine is not not caked with dirt or grease or anything like that, since I usually give it a good wipedown every week or two. I just want something that will wipe off any dirt that accumulates and stuff that APC won't clean. I know that there is APC+ and Optimum power clean, is there anything else out there that works weel? Keep in mind I want something that is fairly safe to use on the finish and safe to use on bare cast alminum of an egine without staining it. Any sugestions?

i usually just stick with a dedicated engine cleaner. gunk etc.... then the magic. CD2 engine detailer! stuff is amazing. mentioned here on the forum i am sure. a spray on walk away product. after your engine is clean and most of the water is off of it, hit it with the CD2. here are the results....

the CD2 is getting hard to find. i just got another can at a auto zone on the way to work.

Try Meguiar's Super Degreaser.

I use Zep Citrus at 4:1 and have great results.

I've seen Meguiar's Super Degreaser do wonders on engine bays and have recently become an Amazing Roll Off convert. Both are amazing products and you can't go wrong with either one

Almost any degreaser will work, but I like to use Amazing Roll Off.

I was using Zep for a while but switched to Optimum Power Clean because I don't have to worry about overspray on paint.

This is using OPC @ 3:1

p21s Total Auto Wash
P21S Total Auto Wash is German nobility in a spray bottle! (http://www.autogeek.net/p2totautwas.html)

It might be more expensive than other degreasers but so far I prefer it to any other, so it is worth the extra imo.

Agree! I used Optimum on my 1985 300D that had very limited cleaning before I did it. These diesels are prone to crud because of the location of the various fuel filters and if you don't spray the areas down after changing them, gunk happens. This took that stuff off where others failed. Even the petrolium based spray on products didn't do this well and they are not exactly paint friendly.

I agree whole heartedly with this. For a really dirty engine I use it straight, otherwise I dilute it 3:1, and it works great. Worth every penny.

I recently did a quick write up on a 360 spider as well as used a few new products one being B-33 which worked amazing for me. You can see the topic here http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/35889-ferrari-360-a.html .

:iagree:
Except, first I spray everything with ONR, agitate, let it run off...
Remaining spots get the same treatment with Megs APC+ 10:1...
By then the really stubborn areas show up and get dedicated cleaner, agitate, etc....

Rest of the season: ONR [using a sprayer] so I don't have to rinse and then a dressing.

I pull the car over a drop cloth topped with an inch of absorbant to catch the minimal run off.

:iagree: I've used it on three different engines with varying degrees of gunk and in each case this stuff did the job amazingly well!!
