Using Bug Sponge for On The Fly Pad Cleaning

You ever read a post, then think about it, to only later go back to look at it and can't find it? Well if not, that is what happened to me. Anyway, I thought I read on a post about Meguiars DA Microfiber Correction Pads, where you clean the pads on the fly with a bug sponge. Can you use a bug sponge to clean other pads on the fly, or is this a technique for for Megs DA Microfiber Correction Pads?

I wouldn't use that method on foam pads.
