One of my younger neighbors got a black 2011 scion tc as an ealy graduation gift. I saw him today seeing how he liked his ride and he mentioned how fast it gets dirty because its black. I started talking about my car and how often I wash it and what products I use and he was like, "Yeah, your car is really shiny and its always clean, what do you do?"

Bells and whistles started going off in my head and I started talking about the waffle weave towels I use and my GG polisher to remove swirls. I asked him if he's noticed swirls in car paint and he did suprisingly. So I explain what they were and how the polisher shaves off a teeny tiny bit of clear coat to reveal a fresh surface and I could tell he was listening. He was asking what products I used, how I used them and where I got them. He seemed interested, I could see it in his eyes.

He told me he was just washing his car with water and a towel with no soap! :nomore: I told him Id give him a lesson and help him detail his car one of these days. I didnt have any towels that I could spare, but I gave him a 64oz jug of armor all wash to get him started.

Hopefully I can mold him into an autogeek. It took me several years of trial and error and reading up on forums to get where Im at. Hopefully I can speed up the process for him and get him on the right track to having an amazing looking car.

Anyone in the same boat trying to get someone started into the hobby?

Yea my little brother is 15 and helps me sometimes when I do family members cars & he's just starting to come around to asking serious questions and asking me about products and techniques- lol

I think he wants to make some $$ this summer washing cars in his neighborhood, so as long as he's willing to learn, I'm helping him out....

I got the mailman hooked. I would be washing or waxing the cars and he would ask questions and finally one day he brought over his car ( a gunmetal Mustang Shelby GT 500). I showed him how to remove the swirls and scratches and he was hooked.
I think he hates me now because he's always telling me how much stuff he bought and how his wife is getting mad at him.
