View Full Version : SS II Redemption...One Last Question??

So if you guys recall my other thread a few down about being extremely disappointed with the SSII? Well, I got around to doing my spring cleaning. I won't bore you with all the details, but this is two coats of BFWD and SS II on top. Already got dirty and washed once. Even while dirty, the water beading was amazing...water just rolled right off. Drying with the same towels I had issues with before was a complete treat this time. They just glide across the surface. I can't believe the difference.

So here's one final question? What do you guys do for maintenance throughout the year? Will just putting another occasional coat of SSII throughout perform just as well? Do you guys clean the surface after every couple months or can I just top off a coat whenever I'm in the mood? Guess I'll just have to try it and see.

what did you do for engine bay? looks good

make sure you use a delicate wash as to not remove the coat of wax. you can keep the coat shiney by using a carnauba spray detailer or alike. there are some great spray detailers now that extend the life of waxes. depending on how often you drive the car and what the weather conditions are you can reapply wax as needed. washing your car once a week or so will help keep the contaminants clear.

Beautiful car is beautiful. How is the paint holding up under the bra? I have seen those destroy paint.

As for maintenance, the gentleman above me covered that pretty well. A gentle shampoo, and a lead blower to dry and that shine will last forever.

I just double checked your last post and have to say I have not had that same experience you previously had. Sunday just under 14 days ago I did a full detail of clay, Pinnacle PCL, and 2 coats of signature II. Every day until last Saturday I was using Crystal Mist on the hood, roof, trunk, and fender flares (basically horizonal-ish surfaces) when I got home from work due to pollen. Then we had 3 days of rain from M-W this week. Just washed it "today" (thursday) with Pinnacle bodywork shampoo and it was beading perfectly both before and after washing. It had not seen any quick detailer or any other product since last weekend.

Your car looks great...I would throw on another coat of Sig. It can be layered and looks awesome when you do.

Man that blue really pops in the sun.

I would use a spray wax as a booster with your weekly washes after drying, then re-apply SSII every month. If the paint surface gets contaminated, or half way through the summer, clay and re-apply again.

Excellent advice!

Another gorgeous color that looks wet when it's waxed!! :dblthumb2:

After your next wash and dry, try going over the car with Optimum Spray Wax.....POP!!

Don't really care how it holds up! It doesn't show in the photo's but we lived in SoCal desert for sevearal years. The front of this is pretty well peppered with chips from normal life in the desert. Also, the front lower valance (just in front of the right wheel) is cracked from hitting a critter one night. The bra covers it all up very nicely. I don't neglect the front end; it gets the same treatment as the rest of the car, but the bra is a full time modification. My wife actually preferrs the looks with the bra on so it pretty much stays on. But to answer your question...the bra has had zero negative effect on the paint finish.

I've been using Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo exclusively now for about 6 months. I recently went through a bottle of Soveran Spray Wax. Good stuff, but (dare I say in this forum) I'm a Mother's fan. I like their spray wax. Is it better than the Souveran?? Probably not. Is it a good product and better bang-for-the-buck than Souveran?? Absolutely. Been using that for a while and it holds up pretty good.

I'm hoping I don't repeat this opinioin with the SS II (vs Mothers Carnuba...my old favorite), but since I just did this, it remains to be seen. Gonna give it a fair shakedown that's for sure.
