I have a PC 7336 I have been using for years. Looking to really improve my skills on the detailing of my personal cars. I am an ex body/paint guy but have continued through the years performing side jobs. More for the love of it than the money, to a fault. Anyway. I have been reading as much as I could here on AGO as well as a few other detailing oriented boards. Through this I see the PC 7336 is pretty versatile in this area. I have a Makita 9227C rotary I purchased a few weeks back now. Not an expert with a rotary but am comfortable and do enjoy working with one. Previously has a pneumatic unit but it failed so I went with the Makita after much research. Very happy I chose it.

For the Makita I have a Meguiars W65 backing plate with a set of W7000, 8000 and 9000 foam pads. Also have the Megs W5000 double sided wool pad for it. I had planned to get the W65DA backing plate and use these pads on the 7336 but see they are often described as too large a diameter for the PC to work effectively.

So I ask you all for the experts opinion on what is the most versatile size BP & pad diameter for the 7336?

Think the 7336 is like the 7424, and i would go with 5in bp and 5 1/2 pads

From all of my research, it is indeed the same machine.

I have never used a PC before, but from the sound of it the 5" backing plate (like the Lake Country one or the 3M one) are a good bet because most people have alot of success using that packing plate with 5.5" pads.

Now which one? Meguiars, LC, 3M or the Buff and Shine.....

What would one look for to determine the best option?

I will check those out. So far I was looking at the LC 5.5" pads. Wont need cutting as I will use the rotary for that. Just polishing and finishing I think...

So in the 5.5" pad sector which of the following would be best?
Lake Country CCS Smart Pads Dual Action 5.5 inch Professional Foam Pads: 6 for 35.99
Lake Country 5 1/2 x 7/8 inch Flat Foam Pads: 6 for 34.99
Lake Country' s Hydro-Tech 5.5 x 1.25 Inch Foam Pads: 3 for 29.99

Aside from that I would be looking into bonnets as well….. any suggestions?

I only see 6" bonnets. Is that the proper size to use with a 5.5" pad inside of it?

Or would this kit cover most anything I would need…
