One step correction, about 90% correction achieved.

This was an exterior only, and the car arrived clean.

Process:
Last Touch Wipedown.
Clayed with Meg's white, LT 1:1 as lube.
M105 on Orange CCS via the PCXP.
IPA Wipedown
AutoGlym HighDef as LSP.
Glass Cleaned.

Before (for some reason, my camera didn't pick up the swirls well)

Total time spent: 7 hours.

Looks nice for 7 hours of work. I would not expect 105 + orange to usually be lsp ready, did the paint seem very hard? In my experience, 105 with a light cutting pad will leave very fine hazing in the finish, but it's often not perceptible on brighter paint finishes. Also, an LSP can pretty easily fill the hazing.

Yes, as with most VW/Audi paint, it was very hard.

Hmmmm. I know you said that last shot is wax smear...but that looks like compound hazing to me.

I know 105 finishes down nice...but not THAT nice. I think going from 105 to LSP is kind of a waste of compounding. A quick polish with 205 would have really brought some clarity to that paint. Why not polish??

And is that a tree scent hanging from the back bumper?? haha

I love Tornado Red! Good job

I used only 105 with an orange pad on my wife's daily driven Galactic Blue MkIV Jetta. It also has very hard paint. 105 finished very well, but it could've definitely been better had I gone over it with a polish. 7 hours sounds about how long I took, so going over it again wasn't worth it for a daily that's scratched and chipped up from the previous owner.

There was little to no hazing.

The client paid for a one-step, and that's what they got.

M205 would not have done anything on this paint, correction wise, therefore, I had to use M105 to knock out the swirls.

Also, the sun was ducking in and out of clouds all day.

What is the purpose of having your tires/wheels like this ^? It looks really dumb.

That all depends on who is looking at the car...

Nice job overall :) You really should consider picking up Menzerna Power Finish as a 1-step polish.

"What is the purpose of having your tires/wheels like this ^? It looks really dumb." Aside from style, which I generally refrain from commenting on as that's not the point most AG forum posts, I am about 98% certain that this is not a legitimate wheel width / tire size combination. The tire installer could be sued when the bead breaks and the tire flattens during a hard turn; which I agree is pretty dumb. I believe the purpose is extra rotational weight for easier hill climbs following regular descents. J/K :)

It's a 215/40/17 on a 9.5'' wheel.

Classic VW Trend.

How is the cut compared to M105?

I'm not sure if Power Finish will bring that hard VW paint to the same level that 105 does. Isn't PF like 85RD, but with improved cut? I'm sure it will be great as a second step. I have PF on order, and I can't wait to try it out.

That was my dilemma, live with some slight hazing and get 90% correction, or leave some swirls but have extremely clear paint.

In the end, the customer only cared about the swirls, and if there is haze, it's slight.

I think the car looks sick with those wheels!! Dumped hard, stretched, pure euro-trash bad-a$$-ness, and very popular with the VW crowd. Is it air suspension or just dumped on coilovers? Regardless it looks dope IMO! Not that I would run such a stretch, especially not here in Michigan. I have a friend who runs corvette turbines on his golf just as low, with winter tires in the snow. Brave soul.

That paint is hard! Power Finish (Menz 203) cuts like M205, maybe slightly more, but not enough for this paint. Power Gloss Compound would have been the product in the Menzerna line to use if anything, but M105 will knock it out. But I do agree, it should have been finished down more. But like you said, the client wanted a one-step, and anything less would have not made enough of a difference. It kills me that people will dump $6k into wheels and suspension and not want to spend an extra $200 for proper polishing!

Regardless, the car looks great!
