I was thinking this was going to be an easy job. The car is only a year old. But, they have 3 kids and I know what it's like to clean up only after 2 of them. Yikes. Also, this car had both tar and fallout on it. Yep, as usual, more work than anticipated. Oh well, always up for a challenge.

Wheels/Wells/Tires:

I started with this as usual. The wheels got Megs WB followed by Zep Citrus to neutralize the acid.
The wells were cleaned with Zep Citrus.
The tires were cleaned with Zep purple.
The tires were subsequently treated with Opti bond.
The wells were subsequently dressed with Adams US.
The wheels were subsequently treated with CQ.

Here is the car as it was delivered to me. I first went over it with Tarminator on a dry surface as it's a solvent and doesn't mix well with water. Good news is that it got rid of the tar that was splattered along the sides.

As you can see, the interior was going to be a challenge. It seemed like chocolate in the seams of the leather seats. I would alter the way I used my steamer on this job.

The exterior had quite a bit of rust coloured fallout on it. The car was foamed in preparation to being treated with ironx. I used a sample of CG Maxi Suds that Heath had sent me. It worked well in my foam cannon.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t12/rhowitt/Live2Detail/DSC_0024-20.jpg

I then washed the car with DG 901 and then flooded it to rinse it. That was followed by drying the surface with a leaf blower. The remaining water was dried with a ww mf. Now it was ready for ironx.

Check out these examples of what the car was covered in:

For a white car, it had a lot of purple!! Check out ironx in action on this one year old car:

The ironx was then power washed off and the car was foamed a 2nd time and rinsed off again. Here it is cleaned and before being corrected:

Paint Correction:

The paint underneath all that fallout and tar was actually in good condition. It did need claying as well however as there were some black marks in it that the clay (yellow Riccardo) managed to remove. I microwaved it again to increase the pliability of it. Works very well for this clay. I used a white B & S pad with Menz PF as a one step to make the flake jump. The rear bumper had scratches along the top edge that got wet sanded with 2500 and then was compounded with a 3" white wool pad and M105 followed by the PF on a 3" orange pad. The car was then washed with a strong 901/Citrus mixture and blowed/blotted dry. CQ was applied to the paint and glass. The trim got UTTG. The head and tail lights were also compounded with the PF. The paint was treated to ReLoad before delivery (version 1).

INTERIOR:

The mats were vacuumed and steam cleaned with the Gaia. The driver's mat needed Folex. It was brushed in and allowed to dwell. I blotted it repeatedly with a white terry towel and then steam cleaned it. I did not need to use the extractor on it.
The rubber mats were cleaned with Zep Citrus and were treated with Simonize tire spray.
The carpeting was vacuumed with my powerful PF51 and then was steam cleaned.
The leather was vacuumed in all the crevices to try to remove as mucy as possible. The chocolate seemed to be melted in the crevices. I put the small extension nozzle on the crevice tool and actually went along the crevice with the nozzle blasting right along the seam or crevice. I had a mf in front to absorb what was being liquefied out of the seams. I went along quickly as the end of the nozzle can get hot. The seats were wiped down well and then treated to PERL at 1:5 using a sponge and then wiped down again after a few minutes. The plastic surfaces were cleaned too and in one spot were it was scraped, I also used my AutoGlym Interior pad sprayed with Zep Citrus. It was then steamed again. The plastic was also treated with PERL.
The glass was steamed as well. I was very proud of how the interior came out.

Very nice work! I hope it stays that way for a week or so. No eating or drinking in the car! Keep your feet off the backs of the seats! I had 3 and it worked for me...:props:

Great work Richy, I finallt got around to applying my CQ today, took me 9 hours from start to finish. wash, clay, polish,IPA, CQ, ReLoad. I am pure slap worn out! It was super hard to remove because it felt sticky on the paint, I let dry for the recommended time too. But overall product looks great cant wait to test it for beading tommorow!

This car looks amazing and should have never been treated that way, what a shame!

Is PF Menzerna Power Finish and do you just go over the tail lights like paint with the same speeds, pads etc?

Great job too, I bet the customer was happy..until the kids got back in the car!

That's awesome! I love the car, and I love your pictures! :dblthumb2:

Couple of questions about Iron X. First, did you experience any problems with the smell? Headaches, nausea, etc.? Second, did you notice any staining of the driveway from the Iron X or the runoff? Third, did you actually wash after using Iron X or did you just pressure wash, foam, rinse, and then dry? Thanks!

Looks better than new. Good job! :xyxthumbs: Question about B&S white pad, is it as stiff as the orange pad? Comparable to LC white?

Also, I've seen you use Cquartz alot. Is 30ML enough for a LEXUS SUV? Thanks.

OMG what a resuscitation, Richy!! The whole car was nasty! Imagine trying to do this without Iron-X and the Tar Remover.

Did you ever find out what the "chocolate" actually was?

Nice house, though ;)

I'm not seeing a whole lot of gloss ... I know it's white and all but do you give up some gloss and the wet look for protection wih Cq?

Well. if it doesn't, they sure know where to come to get it looking that way again!! Their one child is special needs, so they really have their hands full having him and 2 other small children as well. Hopefully the PERL will give the surface a bit of protection for them.

Tyler, glad to hear you finally got a chance to play with it! How long did you let it dry? More is better than less for drying time. I'm looking forward to hearing your reaction when you put a hose to it!!

Awesome job man!
Thank you very much.

Yes, the Menzerna Power Finish. I used the same white B & S pad for the lights too. They weren't bad but it cleaned them up nicely.

I know the original version had a stronger smell. This one is the newer version. It still smells like a rancid fart, but at least it's not as bad as it was before. I did it in my garage as it was raining out at the time and I did not get a headache from it. I was using the old version of CQ (Avi updates his products quite often, the man never sits on his laurels!!) and the old version of CQ gives me a headache. I have an overhead fan that I use when applying it and then I don't get a headache. Makes me wish I didn't give up cigars though, LOL. And, as far as staining, no I didn't notice anything, but, like I said, it was raining at the time so the driveway was wet and kept getting rained on too. I just did a power wash rinse and foam after the ironx....as far as I can remember. The wash stage took a very long time on this car due to the challenges on the paint.

Looks better than new. Good job! :xyxthumbs: Question about B&S white pad, is it as stiff as the orange pad? Comparable to LC white?
I might be different with how I prepare my pads before use, but I always get them soaking wet and then wring them out and spin them dry with the rotary at 3000 rpm. If needed, I then pat them dry a bit more. That softens them up a lot, including the orange LCC pads. They stay stiff if you don't do that. So, if you do it my way, the orange pad is just about as pliable as the white B & S one is. For a direct comparison in cutting strength however, the orange LCC compares to the yellow B & S. Softened up with water, the yellow pad is soft and yet cuts pretty well for a foam pad.
Also, I've seen you use Cquartz alot. Is 30ML enough for a LEXUS SUV? Thanks.
I would say yes. Paint for sure. Then it would come down to how much was left to do the glass or the wheels. People tend to put it on heavily at first, like any new product until you get the hang of it. Also, if your paint is very soft, you'd be better to keep the applicator pad moist with product than risk trying to make it go too far, too thin and mar the paint. If you put it on a bit heavy, just wait longer to remove it, that's all.

OMG what a resuscitation, Richy!! The whole car was nasty! Imagine trying to do this without Iron-X and the Tar Remover.
It's like so many of the technological advances that we ask "how did they ever do it before?"!!!
Did you ever find out what the "chocolate" actually was?
It sure seemed like chocolate to me. I didn't taste it though, hahahahha. I'm not that brave

Nice house, though ;)
Thanks Jacob. We've been there for 9 years now.

I'm not seeing a whole lot of gloss ... I know it's white and all but do you give up some gloss and the wet look for protection wih Cq?
I did not want to photograph it Saturday late afternoon. It was raining and was then overcast so there was no good light to show it off. Earlier that day it had been gorgeous and they saw the car after being polished and were blown away by the shimmering flake. I knew I should have snapped some shots at the time. But, it was Mother's day weekend and my wife wanted no car in the garage on Mother's day. Too bad as it was a gorgeous sunny day and would have truly showed the condition of the paint. These pictures do not give justice to the finish. I will see if I can grab another shot in the sun if I see it out. Don't be thinking that CQ does not have a wet shine. It does. Check out many of my other details using it and you will see, including my Lincoln. I did not give up any gloss whatsoever using the CQ. I understand why you would think that seeing the pics. Sorry for how they turned out in the overcast sky.
