Is it possible that the experienced Michigan members who have used Opti-Coat would be interested in putting together a demonstration for Michigan members. What my thought was, that members could come together at a central location for a meet and show/share, with everyone your detailing secrets and use of Opti-Coat. Who knows maybe we can get M.Phillips out of the Florida for a couple of days with a lot and gifts/samples. We could have our own little Detail Fest.

Just did a Mapquest and it looks like you guys are about 1500 miles from here, that means flying in and that means time away from my normal job duties...

I started the Roadshow Classes for Meguiar's back in 2006!

After doing a number of Roadshow Classes it was decided at the Corporate level for a huge company like Meguiar's that it was too expensive to do the classes. That's when they were free. Free works for a huge company like Meguiar's but not the rest of the world.

Here at Autogeek our Saturday Detailing 101 Classes are $100.00 and our Advanced Class is $150.00, if a person can get facilities that will hold up to 30 people for a Saturday class then the class starts to become a win/win deal for everyone.

Besides airfare, hotel, food and usually a rental car there's usually a certain amount of products, tools, pads, etc that have to be shipped in and then shipped back home. There's coffee and donuts in the morning and usually pizza and cold drinks for a lunch break, I have an article on EVERYTHING needed to actually put on a real class, not a GTG in someone's garage where there's a structured learning environment where everyone wins.

There are many experienced members in Michigan. However, if you are done, or already have, perused the threads concerning OptiGard/Coat 2.0, you will, or should have, noticed the various price ranges the pros have in mind for the application of said Opti products (let alone the prep charges). This alone might be prohibitive/inhibitive for such an event to occur. But, you never know?

Please keep us apprised, I don't live that far away--could be a mini-vacation to keep in mind. :)

I've been toying with the idea of setting something up this summer, in fact. We would have to look into what sort of facilities could be made available to do it, but I think having a Michigan/Great Lakes regional detail meet would be an awesome fun event.

Of course as Mike points out, there's also the concern about making sure we would have all of the product and equipment necessary to do a class, but I bet we could make even that happen with a little bit of leg-work. In a few weeks once my schedule clears up some maybe I'll look into it more.

I don't know when we'll know if "What's in the Garage" gets picked up for another run, but depending on the production schedule if we could find a few cars here in Michigan for the show, maybe something could be put together in correlation with the Masters TV folks and Mike being in the area?

Just thinking out loud, here....

Could you do me a favor Shiny Lil Detlr, if you don't care, Would you keep me, and the other interested folk, in mind if you would happen to get something together? Thanks so much.

Even though M.Phillips said no. He might consider. Looking at the map/area, he picked the Petoskey/Traverse City area. Money and Casinos. He needs a vacation in Michigan. Maybe Max might consider sending another representative. Not sure about Lansing, but Detroit and Flint have direct flights from Florida.

Yeah, Lansing does as well now, though I'm not exactly sure what hubs in Florida they fly out of. I live only about 5 minutes away from the airport here in Lansing, in fact.

My first thought was that Lansing Community College has a large facility with an auto body/collision repair and mechanic training program that was just recently built a few years ago with all state-of-the-art equipment and lots of room.

I don't know if they'd be willing to let us use or rent the space (probably during a time when classes aren't running) but I think it would be the ideal environment. Plus it's in proximity to a couple fairly nice hotels that also have banquet and conference facilities, so we'd have the ability to set up a reception like AG did for their event.

Main problem becomes money and promotion; though I don't think getting vendors to sponsor the event would be out of the question since there are a lot of folks from Michigan/Ohio/Indiana/Wisconsin/etc. for whom an event held here is a lot easier to get to than going all the way to Florida.

Maybe putting some feelers out to see when people would want such an event to happen and how many would actually attend would be a good idea.

Thanks for your reply. I would probably have to come a few days early so one of you pro detailers from up North (perhaps you Shiny?) could prep my vehicle---the drive up may inflict some defects. Plus, I'm too 'seasoned' to be as AR as I once was. :)

The upcoming Detailing 101 and 102 classes are going to have some very enhanced features to make it feel like you're really here. We also have a special guest that will be here for both classes.

Here's a way to attend a full day's class without the expense of flying to Stuart, getting a hotel, getting a rental car etc.

If you want to watch one or both classes then now is the time to set these dates aside on your schedule so you can cyber-attend.

As for the Opti-Coating 2 aspect, that's not a part of this class but it's completely possible for us to host a "Sponsored Class" and in this case, the sky is the limit, we can show whatever the sponsor wants shown whether that be Mothers, Optimum, CarPro, Meguiar's, etc.

Just some food for thought...

At this time there are no plans here at Autogeek to do any off-site classes or Roadshows as our focus is on teaching our classes here at our facilities because our facilities have everything we need to offer top quality, hands-on classes plus we can broadcast them and reach more people.

So check your schedule and if you can't attend our next classes in person, then set these dates aside to remote-attend.

We always get asked if the live broadcasts will be made available later via YouTube or a DVD etc., and at this time there are no plans for this so instead... clear your schedule just like you would if you were attending in person and be ready to attend from your living room.

There's always comments like,

"I couldn't watch because of such and such..."

So clear your schedule now! Saturday May 14th and Sunday May 15th, these are ALL DAY CLASSES, that is 8:00am to approximately 5:00pm both days.

Enhanced features as in more than you had the last time the D101/102 classes were broadcast and/or what you had for the DetailFest mini classes?

I'd already planned to watch but now you've got my interest piqued....
