Hello from westchester, NY

Hello everyone. I first have to say this forum is really insane!!! So much to read and information I don’t even know where to start. I've been a car enthusiast for MANY MANY years and I’m getting tired of hand polishing, compounding and waxing my vehicles. I’m looking into taking the advantage of all the great outcomes from using a porter cable polisher. I have just received my items I ordered from AG which was a new backing plate for my 7424 and the cobra cross groove flex foam pads. The only thing that is holding me back is choosing the right application to use. My cars are white in color and are taken care of. The issues I have is that I don’t have that smooth finish and nice shine I think the paint can offer.

What waxes, compounds, sealers would you guys recommend for a first timer to use that one will not be to ruff but give me the smooth clean look I’m looking for? Should I even use a sealant? I’m thinking a minor cut compound and a wax for finishing.

This is something I've posed several times and it covers many areas at a high level but give you an idea of what's available and some of the prices.

Everyone starts off as a beginner but with some reading, questions, and trial, error, and practice you'll be amazed how much you'll be able to do. After reading and understanding some of the basics, the more hands on your are the quicker you'll build your knowledge and gain experience.

Clay
Paint Correction & Polish
Seal
Wax

Make detailing enjoyable and practice. Take your time and do not become overwhelmed. Just because there are a thousand product doesn't mean you have to use them all.

Pick one product from each category from the steps above. You already have some great waxes so you're that far ahead of the game..

We are the warehouse so we don't do cars for business. Our personal cars, family and friends that's about it. But there is a body shop right next door so we always have spare panel access great to learn on!
