You would use it to clean chrome wheels and tailpipe tips. It cleans rust and soot really well. Then polish, polish, polish and then seal.

Do not use it on paint.

I use that steel wool for windsheilds with heavy bugs or water spots. Spray glass with Invisible Glass first then go back over it with a mf towel.

You could sand dry, but it will be dusty and hazardous to your health and the paint. Damp sanding FTW.

Wanted to add to this. Use only with a lubricant. I use it when I have set of chrome wheels with pits and rust that needs to be cleaned. Then polish then seal.

Also on the tips, I use it on the inside of the tip to clean the soot. I try to refrain from using it on the outside because that metal is usually soft and will scratch. Such as aluminum.

Yes 0000 steel wool can scratch wheels and tips. I don't use it unless I need to. Usually some metal polish and a MF will do. That's why he said he uses it for inside the tips.

And which one should you get? Are you talking steel wool? If so, it's sold at walmart, home depot, etc....

Sorry, couldnt reply until now. Been pretty busy today.

Looks like all has been cleared up.

You can get just about any brand of steel wool. I forget the brand I have but I did get it from Home Depot. Just make sure you get grade "0000". Anything other than that will be too course.
