I have recently been adding lines in the carpet and floor matts when I do a full detail and almost every customer comments on it! I think it looks really cool. I saw one other guy do a design on his carpets but didnt know how to do it. He is a member on this forum from S. FL but the pictures I saw was on a different forum and I didnt want to join it lol I try to stay faithful HAHA!

Anyways post your pics and tell us how you do it!

Good thread I also been wondering about this. I seen crazy designs I mean wild!! I have no idea how they do it but I'm pretty sure someone will teach here in AG.:)

Take a dense brush, one with a square or triangle head and you can make designs in the carpet. All the design is; a pattern of fibers facing different directions with light making different shades.

I normally just do a linear pattern on a diagonal when cleaning carpets. I may get more creative one day, but for now the linear brushing fits my time better.

AG does not carry the type of brush that makes carpet designs easiest, but most auto parts stores have a short handle brush with square head that works well.

I have a Ford Edge to work on tomorrow with black carpets so i'll post a pic after completion.

A brief synopsis of my cleaning and concoursing process.
1) vacuum
2) pre-soak the heavier stuff
3) apply carpet cleaner
4) Scrub and extract
5) Finish the carpets by applying polymer fabric guard and concours while still damp.
6) Cover with plastic carpet cover until customer pickup

What fabric guard product are you using? Both 3M Scotchgard and 303 Fabric Guard (the two I've been using) specify that it is best to let the carpet completely dry before application.

Its a PDMS based sealant offered by a local company. They recommend spraying a mist of water on the carpets before application to assist in penetration. I forget the exact name but it is a carpet sealant and brightener that works very well and repels water and spills nicely.

I decided to make a couple designs today just for demonstration purposes. These were done following carpet cleaning with a square headed brush.

Thats just an overlap starting at one side of the car and zig-zagging across to create the light and dark shades. Forward is one color, back is the other.

I think the first 2 designs are pretty easy to do. Which I already know how. Like Jon explained how to do the second one. I can say these 2 designs are the most common to do.

But of course we have some members that may not know how to do at least one of these, so it don't hurt showing. :D

I am trying to see if I find that one design I saw that it looks pretty amazing!!!
