I thought I would take a few minutes and say hi to all, I am new here and just starting to read the wealth of information on this site.
I have no experience using have power polisher‘s; without saying anymore you can understand why I am interested learning as much and I can. I need to save the aging shoulders and elbows!
My first thoughts are to purchase a flex 3401, but I need to understand how to use the unit correctly and all the other items I need to purchase before starting to work the paint.
I have three vehicles I will be waxing with the last one being black, I am guessing that would be my biggest challenge and it has plenty of swirl marks. Funny, until now I thought they were normal and just had to live with them, but if I am reading correctly I should be able to clean the swirls off.

:welcome: To Autogeek Online Dave!

Try not to get overwhelmed with all the products and look at just the basics..

After reading and understanding some of the basics, the more hands on your are the quicker you'll build your knowledge and gain experience.

Everyone starts off as a beginner but with some reading, questions, and trial, error, and practice you'll be amazed how much you'll be able to do.

This link contains articles written by Mike Phillips and has allot of great reading within.

Articles by Mike Phillips (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-expert-featuring-mike-phillips/23722-articles-mike-phillips.html)

Basic steps in order are:

Wash
Clay
Paint Correction & Polish
Seal
Wax

Make detailing enjoyable and practice. Take your time and do not become overwhelmed. Just because there are a thousand product doesn't mean you have to use them all.

Pick one product from each category from the steps above. You already have some great waxes so you're that far ahead of the game..

Hi Dave,

Welcome to Autogeek Online! :welcome:

With 3 vehicles to take care of, machien polishing is the way to go, working by hand takes to long and you won't get near as good as results.

I've added your name to my forum/real name list here, which is real handy if you want to refer to someone else on the forum by their first name instead of their forum name.

Roll Call - What's your real first name? (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/off-topic/33701-roll-call-what-s-your-real-first-name.html)

The Flex 3401 is a very capable tool, check out this thread that we had going yesterday for all the personal testimonies...

Here's a video or two... the first one shows the rotating/occillating action of the Flex 3401

There's also a Online Class Video here,

Thanks for all the good information; I am realizing I know nothing about waxing and polishing. I have probably been my own worst enemy! I am starting to put together my wish list.
