Hi Mark,

What color is it? When it comes to single stage paints, "sometimes" the pigment can modify the hardness or the softness of the resin.

Basically you treat single stage paint like a clear coat paint system unless it's antique and if that's the case there's a few things you can do differently depending upon the condition.

M105 is a SMAT product so you can control how aggressive it is by your pad choice, pressure and number of passes. Simply do a few test spots to see what it takes to remove the defects to your expectations and once you get a feel for how the paint is reacting simply duplicate the process you dial in to your test spot to the rest of the car.

I posted the below yesterday to another thread but it applies here...

What's worked in the past on detailing projects will likely work for you on this project, the key differences are always how "polishable" the paint is and this is something you won't know until you do a Test Spot someplace on a body panel.

I always recommend using a Tape-Line when doing your testing as it will make it very easy for your eyes to detect changes, which usually mean improvements in the test area and gauge how effectively your pads, products, tool and techniques are working on this particular paint system.

I test every paint system, (that's another way of saying vehicle because the paint or the "paint system" is on the vehicle, you're not working on the vehicle, per SE, but the paint system), if I've never worked on it before.

It's just a good "Best Practice"

Do you have a picture?

I posted this to the same thread I extracted the last few paragraphs of my previous post but it applies here too...

If this car is something you would like to use to showcase your skill and ability for others to see to gain new business, then make sure you get good before shots.

The power in the after shots is created in the before shots (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/tricks-tips-techniques/21216-power-after-shots-created-before-shots.html)

You an always get the after shots, but once you start working on the project, especially undoing damaged and/or neglected or swirled out paint, you can't go back in time and get the "before" shots.

Here's the other thread for anyone that's interested...

Do you know when it was repainted and was a clear coat sprayed on? Typically the P-Cars are pretty easy to work it.

No. They will be stained red, but clean them as best as you can and use them again.

Do clean your pads often as oxidation loads a pad up initially more than removing swirls out of a clear coat all things being equal.

You're now in Florida are you? I saw this 959 recently having some paint work done in a local body shop:

Rare car (in the US) to begin with, then it being red and having paint work done...
