I've got a 2006 Toyota Tacoma, I keep it clean boys !

I'm going to order the $169 PC package where I can pick out my pads. I will be using this on my customer cars as well but my first project is my truck. SO, what kind of swirl remover should I start out with ? I know nothing about any of these products sold on here except Pour Boys, which I only use their wax.

I want to take the advice of the forum and start as less aggressive as possible, I wouldnt know a bad swirl from a light one, all I know is, I love my truck. It's pouring rain today or I'd take some close ups. I know I'll get alot of opions, I'm good with that.

I know I didnt ask for help on the pads but I plan on getting 1 orange, 2 gray and a blue to get me started. Thoughts ?

Hey, nice Toyota!

The Menzerna bundle below is a great combination and will product seller results.

Menzerna Power Finish & Super Finish Bundle, Menzerna Polishing Compounds, Menzerna PO203 & PO106FA, car polishes (http://www.autogeek.net/menzerna-polish-bundle2.html)

Once the correction is complete you'll naturally want to seal and protect it and I'd recommend:

Sealant

Menzerna Power Lock Polymer Paint Sealant, Menzerna auto sealant, car sealant, paint sealant protectant (http://www.autogeek.net/menzerna-power-lock-sealant.html)

Wax

Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax #845, liquid wax, heat-resistant wax, car wax (http://autogeek.net/collinite-insulator-wax-845.html)

Pads

Orange, White, Gray, and Red

Orange through Gray possess different levels of cut where Red will be used to apply sealants and waxes.

If your not looking to drop a lot of money on the Menzerna products (they are great products don't get me wrong just on the pricey side). Then Megs Ultimate compound and Megs 205 are great polishes as well.

I would suggest sticking with 5.5'' pads with the PC ... 6.5''.

5.5 HydoTech Thin Profile pads are much better than 6.5'' CCS on the PC. If you call in they may be able to work on substituting pads in the package.

How scratched up is your paint? If it's minor cobwebbing/hazing from carwashes try a light polish with a little correcting ability like Poorboys PWC Blue which should look fantastic on your indigo taco.

If that doesn't work, step it up to something more aggressive.

Since you're a PB fan, you might consider a bottle of Black Hole to fill in minor imperfections while you take your time on the polishing.

I wish someone would have told me that when I bought my PC.

Only thing I would tweak is the Gray Pads. I would get 3 of them, 2 blue's and a red for whatever wax/sealant you decide (if liquid).

Thanks for the tweaking! I'm so used to doing LSP's by hand and often forget about the blue and red pads. :o

Mike, that was a lot of helpful info on pads. I need to go back through your articles again!

If were just starting out I would go w/ flat pads and snag a white pad from the CCS line, Kompressor line, and the Cobra groove line to try out and see how you like the product work time with each and which one allows you to get the best results w/ your technique, machine, and products you choose. IMHO opinion this would give you fairly broad spectrum to help you decide which you want to invest in/stick with. The CCS pads are great and hold product like advertised, but, I have slung more product with them if I lift the pad a little too soon, or going over and edge/body gap. The Kompressor pads seem to do a better job holding the product from the start but seem to require you to work a diminishing abrasive product longer to prevent/remover marring. I love using the Kompr's on curves/contoured panels; the really allow you to use the edges of the pad because of the rounded pad edge and their flexibility. Flat pads are a great fall back and have there benefits, as they give you a completely flat pad to work with on panels that are flat-mostly flat. It is hard to tell someone what is going to work for them, their machine, the vehicles, and their expectations, etc., etc.... That why you have to do you homework on here and look at the reviews of products/systems before purchasing. Trust me when I say that the reviews on the AG store are real, true, and not doctored to make a product look like something it's not. Plus, if you ever have an issue with an item you can call AG and they will lead you in the right direction and/or replace the product. One of, if not the, most understanding/helpful customer service folks you will ever deal with.:dblthumb2:
As far as what polishes to start with, stick with a line that is know to work well with whatever machine and pads you are buying. The Pinnacle XMT line is deisgned for DA and are consistent and well priced. The WG Total Swirl Remover 3.0/Glaze 3.0 are a great combo and don't require a long work time, and give a great gloss to even light colors(my truck is Chevy Pewter Metallic). The are pricier, but super easy to work with, and give you the best of Menzerna products and WG without having to look through the product table to see what product does what. Don't get me wrong, I like Menzerna products, but WG3.0 takes the guess work out of what to chose with one combo. They LC Hydro-tech pads may be a great combo w/ the WG3.0 line and great for a PC newbie that plans to have customers. Just my personal opinions of course.
God speed in your purchase and detailing.:buffing::)
