what is the difference in these 2 polishers? is there really a difference in the way a job turns out with theses 2?

I have one of each. The PC7336 has the counterweight for a 6" backing plate and the PC7424 comes with the counterweight for a 5" backing plate.

I have not seen the counterweight difference to matter at all, but some may disagree. I interchange 4", 5" and 6" backing plates on both depending on the pad size I'm using and have seen no issues. Other than the counterweight they are essentially the same machine....both work fine.

WAXMAX: Where did you buy your 4" backing plate and what counterweight are you using for this application? Also what pads?

DetailGod: Not trying stir anything up, but if there is a lowe's close by let your fingers do the walking (call) and save yourself $50-60 off retail.

I mis-spoke on the 4" backing plate...it is 3.5" and I got all my backing plates from AG.

I have not changed the counterweight, so the PC7336 has the original counterweight (for 6" backing plates). IMO., it works fine even with the 3.5" plate. All my pads are LCs from either AG or CMA. I have a few 7.5", mostly, many 6.5" and a few 4" pads.

same machines, same bodies ... sold differently at retail. 7424 Polisher, 7336 Sander. All parts are interchangable.

Keep in mind that some of the 7424's are shipping with a 6" counter-weight. I got mine from Home Depot locally, and it came with the 6" counter-weight instead of the 5", which is fine with me since I dont have to buy the bigger weight...

most of us that have purchased and used the different counterweights have shown absolutely NO DIFFERENCE.

I agree, buy online. I bought mine (7336) from Lowes but in the end after buying pads etc. it probably would have been cheaper to buy one of the AG kits with pads included. You also get the added bonus of AG support and customer service and that can't be beat, I know from experience.

I agree, I'm in the Philly area, I was trying to find the lowest price locally but couldn't find anything at Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace or local auto stores.
