I decided to use M105 with my Flex 3401 and an orange LC CCS pad. Next I followed up with M205 and a white LC pad using my makita rotary. This seems to produce an nice result. Is it common to start with a DA and then finish with a rotary or do I have the process backyards?

I've never done that.... always makita first and then cyclo here for me..... but before the cyclo, I always just finished with my makita and it still turned out great, so what you did was cut well with the flex and proved that you have the skill to finish with a makita. Good job!

wanted to minimize clear coat reduction and use makita just for a slick look. I ran it at 1200 RPM on a white pad with M205. The DA jumps a lot. I will use the makita and then follow up with DA. Thanks for the input.

You mention jumping. Which pads are you using on your flex 3401?

Using orange LC CCS pads. A lot of dusting from M105 when working on hood. I had to mist with water. There was not much dusting along body panels. I clayed the entire car before I got started and it really was not all that bad.
