As I'm sure some of you know, yesterday at just after 1pm NZ time there was a 6.3 magnitude earthquake in Christchurch, a city in the south of New Zealand.

Due to the time it hit, the shallowness and the proximity to the city, it was far more devastating than the 7.1 quake that happened during the night on September 4th. Many are dead and many more presumed dead whlie most of the city lies in ruins. It is one of the worst natural disasters the country has experienced.

Please join me in praying for the families affected by the quake.

Hey Matt,
Our prayers are with those who've lost family/friends in this devastation. I know first hand that prayers work wonders, and that God is always good/faithful to us. Thank you Matt for starting this thread God Bless.

Matt,

Last night on the news I saw the devastation and destruction, a woman said; "this is our 911". I saw rescue workers pulling bodies from the ruins and the injured were being cared for by medical personnel.

My thought and prayers go out to each and every person in Christchurch.

God Bless......

Good thoughts and prayers Matt.

Really seems the good folks "Down Under" have really been catching the worse of anything Mother Nature can dish out.

I watched the news last night and saw several vivid images showing destruction and death.

Breaks my heart to see people suffer.

My best thoughts are with the survivors and the country as they come out of this.

An employee of mine is from New Zealand and a cousin of hers lives there and no one has heard from him since the earthquake and can't make contact either.

It's a bad situation over there...

Thanks for all your support guys, I know the people of Christchurch would appreciate it.

The current death toll has just been confirmed as just over 100 with more than 200 missing. That number is expected to grow as well.

Panthercz, I hope your employee hears from his cousin, it must be a tough time for him not knowing if he's alive or dead.

It is a very sad situation, and I do hope that all of those affected can over come this soon, also I do hope that all of those that have family/friends missing find them.

However, I think it is wrong to compare this with Sep 11th ...
