So I finally picked up my first DSLR. A Nikon D40. I'm no photography expert and i'm horrible at taking pictures. But I thought i'd share some! Comments appreciated!

Thanks man! I love it! Got it off Craigslist for $400. Camera, bag, 4gb HCSD, cables, charger, battery, strap, manual, and a Nikon Nikkor 50mm lens. I'd say I got a good deal.

I recommend looking on craigslist for a dslr. You can probably find a good deal and you will absolutely love one!

Yeah want one to take on trips and taking pics while detailing. I found a nice canon on craiglist but he didn't get back to me.

I found a Canon D30 for $500 but just the camera and 1 lens. Figured i'd get more bang for the buck for my Nikon.

Yeah the one I wanted was selling for 500 and it had 2 lens and i think it was a rebel. I shouldn't even be looking for a camera lol.

I got a great price on a Canon Rebel T2i with an addition zoom lens. It was a tough choice between the Nikon and Canon for me, but I finally went with the Canon. Great photos Erik.

Congratulations on the new toy!

I bought a Canon EOS 350D while in Berlin a few years ago and it's still going strong.

I picked up a couple of extra Canon lenses, an 8GB card, and a Speedlite 430-EX2 flash.

DSLRs are so much easier to frame and use than those tiny point and shoots.

And those are great cat pictures! If I took any pictures of my cats they would always be sleeping. And if they are tearing up the house i couldn't frame them anyway.

Great pics. :props:

Nice DSLR as well. It'll take you to a new level as you get more familiar with it.

There is no secret to becoming a better photographer, it's called practice, practice and more practice...kind of like detailing.

Funny thing is, I bought this specifically for detailing.. well and some family shots :).. but... since its the dead of winter here I am becoming a photography nut!
