Been a long time lurker here and have really learned a lot from you folks about detailing, however, I have a problem that I thought the forum may help me with. I have an aluminum tread plate tool box on my truck that has become dull and I would like to restore the original shine. I have tried Megs Metal Polish and while it seems to brighten it up a lot I believe there has to be a better way. It is a very slow go and it is hard to get the cleaner into the raised pattern on the tread plate. Is there a cleaner or chemical, other than the Megs, that would be more effective?

Fourstar APB would get the job done in a hurry. You can even incorporate a machine to polish the box to a great shine with less time. The diamonds are difficult to clean the black tarnish from but with a soft brush and some car wash soap they clean up pretty easily.
