A wool cutting pad is going to leave swirls no mater how gentle or aggressive and it's the fibers AND the abrasives in your choice of compound that will inflict the swirls.

Most "systems", that is the 3M system, the Body Magic system, etc, should have a complimentary compounds and polishes intended to be used one after the other and in the year 2011 chances are good they have a pad recommendation of a wool pad for the compound and a foam pad for the polishing steps.

This is a good quality light cutting pad that you can use with a hook-n-loop backing plate,

Meguiars Solo Wool Light Cutting Pad 7 inch (http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-solo-wool-light-cutting-pad-7-inch.html)

Here's another wool pad in the 7.5" size, it's 100% twisted wool so it will cut fast and leave the usual swirls.

7.5 inch Hook & Loop DuroWool 100% Twisted Wool Cutting Pad (http://www.autogeek.net/75inholodu10.html)

You're not going to get perfection out of any fiber type rotary buffer pad, you're goal should be to get a good compound and a correlating polish and the polish needs to have been designed to remove the swirls left by the compound and the wool pad.

Usually something I'm testing for one of our manufactures.

That's what these two products are specifically formulated and intended for, body shop work.

Optimum Hyper Compound and Hyper-Polish are a good tag team, easy to work with and the compound is rated at removing #2000 grit sanding marks.

Menzerna Power Gloss followed by one of the medium to light polishes is another option, the Mother's new body shop system also works well.

What are you sanding with? What grit are you finishing with?

What are you working on?
