Man I love those cars. I want to detail an old school muscle car bad for some reason. Good job!

You are working on one of my favorite classic muscle cars! The Chevelle SS 396 is legendary in it's style and performance and was one of the premiere cars in its time. Even though this is a 350 it still possess the classic style and lines of one of the more notable performers.

I'm very pleased to see the quality work you performed to restore it to its rightful condition and I hope the owner takes better care of it. I was sort of surprised to see the mud, small stones, and debris on the car. You don't normally see that on such a collectible car in great shape.

Very nice work, it looks great! I love the hard/sharp/aggressive body lines and wish they would go back to them. Oh, and the chrome trim also!

I bet he gets an extra second in the 1/4 lol! Yeah right, it's nice to think about though haha!

Great work and beautiful car. I love the old muscle cars. So, is this car a Chevelle or Malibu? I ask because the car has the Malibu tags on the rear fenders. I googled the two cars and the body styles are pretty similar. Either way it's a beautiful car and I certainly hope the owner starts taking better care of it. They do not make cars like that anymore!

Looks good... resizing your pictures to 800 pixels wide is a good rule of thumb for sharing on forums...

Here's 2 great reasons I prefer to buff anything pre-1975ish...

1. Large, smooth panels that are easy to buff.
2. No pebble textured black plastic trim.

Between 1964(first production year) and 1977 's production run, the 'Malibu' name designated the top trim level option on the Chevelles. Beginning in 1978 the Chevelle name was dropped in favor(my disfavor!) of Malibu until production ended in 1983.

Do you remember before the OPEC 1974 embargo when you could get the Chevelle SS with a 454-360 HP (LS5) or the 454-425 HP (LS6) and the 396-375 HP (L78&L79)? Unbelievable!!!

The bad thing is it would take me all day to do a wash and wax because I would be taking to many pictures of the car! LOL

I am actually glad they got rid of the Chevelle name before they destroyed it like they they did the Malibu. Ugh.

Yes. A lot of car manufacturers have been bringing back and trying to revive some familiar monikers and name brands, some successfully, others not. Ex: the aforementioned GM's Malibu, Ford's Crown Vic, Chyrsler's Lancer and on & on. This has happened many times in the last 100 years--seems like we could do better at picking new names than those highly paid PR people!

it had the M22 rock crusher close ratio 4 speed. They came from the factory with a Muncie shifter, however, I had a hurst competition plus installed. I ordered it with 3:73 rear end gears and it was posi-trac also. However, I wished later I had gotten at least 4:10 rear end gears as this thing revved like a small block with the solid lifter cam. It would easily do 120 mph with still one gear left. I was 21 years old when I purchased it. I used to over rev it as I had a lot of broken valve springs. I used to speed shift it around 6500 to 7000 rpm. It was a beast. I wish I still owned it today. Who knew back then they would be worth big bucks today.
