How many "Vets" do we have here on this site?

I was just wondering how many Vets we have here and what Branch of the Military you might have served in?

USAF for me, Retired now after twenty six (26) years 1969 to 1996, served in 62 countries around the globe to include Vietnam, Gulf War 1 and Bosnia.

In any event - Thanks to all those that did serve and this site is pretty cool for all kinds of hints and guidance while maintaining your "ride".

I was aboard when the USS Essex picked up Apollo 7. Also was in my whites in this flight deck picture taken from a helicopter.

US Army - 1983-85, two year program, ADA all the way! (Air Defense Artillery) if I would have stayed any longer they would have sent me home! Loved Germany though!

Thanks to all that replied so far, Outstanding, I love the photos (when included) too.

I love that carrier shot, I was assigned to the US Navy Blue Angels for three months (special assignment) and I got to launch from the "Lexington" when she was still operational, it was the thrill of a lifetime for me.

The Lex was an Essex Class carrier. In 68 or 69 we steamed from Rhode Island to the coast of Corpus Christi to assist the air group training at the naval air station. The Lex was being refurbished and the jets needed a carrier to practice landing on. The Essex was (at that time) an anti submarine carrier so we had prop aircraft & helos. Each time a jet launched it scorched the old mahogany flight deck which had to be extinguished. The tarmack on the flight deck was so old it was flaking off exposing the wood.

Thanks for your service Meathook, all other veterans and those now serving! I was Army 68 - 69, Viet Nam service in the Mekong Delta, and later put in a stint with the Active Army Reserve. I think there's quite a few vets on this forum, and the rest of the members are respective and appreciative of veterans. Another reason AG Rocks!
