This customer said the clear bra has been on for about 10 years and boy did it show! It was sun faded and scratched/cracked beyond belief! This was my first time removing a clear bra and don't know if I ever want to do it again on one that is so old. It didn't come off in one piece because of all the deep scratches that were in it. Pealed well more like scrapped off in like a million pieces. After about 6 hours of peeling we decided to just scrap it off after heating it up and then polishing out the scratches we put in. I swear it saved us another 6 hours. (two of us). And we restored his headlights too :xyxthumbs:

Good job on the front clip and front lights! By any chance would you know the brand name or manufacturer of the 'clear bra' ? (I know some are easier to remove than others--3M brands, IMO, is the hardest to get off any painted surface.) Thanks

The customer didn't know. I imagine that it is one that the dealership or manufacture put on at the factory.

Thanks for your reply to my inquiry. After being on the vehicle for 10 years, you did an excellent job in its removal and of any subsequent paint blemishes caused by the removal process.

Great work, what did you use on the headlights?

What a difference, do they plan to get another clear bra installed?

As for the headlights I wet sanded with 1500 and then 2000 grit paper and then used SIP with a Griots garage polishing pad to polish up the headlights. (I don't like using my nice pads on headlights)

No he is not planning on putting another one on. It has 200,000 on it and it's his company car so he doesn't really care about it. In fact we were tempted to pull the clear bra on his G35 halfway through just to make us feel better ;)

As for the polishing we just used SIP on the line where the clear bra ended with an orange LC pad. We clayed the hood also. Used 3m adheive remover to get all the sticky stuff off. (that stuff worked great by the way) and then put Griots garge paint sealant on the hood. I know I should have polished with something less aggressive after, put the car is all scratched up anyway, he dosen't care about it, and I didn't know it was going to take 9 hours to get the bra off so he kinda got a good deal out of it... oh well
