Let's take the PCXP, G11v2, Griot's 6", and Flex 3401. Although they all "random obit", will they each have a slightly different motion?

Well to start with the Flex 3401 is not random due to the geared backing plate which makes it a forced orbit. The PC and the Griots both are simular but I have never measured the throw or stroke of either . I have both a old PC and the Griots and all I have ever noticed as being different is the power.Kevin Brown has posted his experiment with the DA motion by attaching ink pens to a PC backing plate but I have never seen anyone else try it with any other brand.

Same motion, although they may have a different throw.

Mark,

It's orbital path is directly dependent on the design of the internal mechanism, is this what you're asking?

That would be the arm that is attached to the main shaft, that is offset from center. Longer arm, or more offset = longer throw, or greater orbit. Shorter arm = shorter throw, or smaller orbit.

Some say that the 3401 has a larger throw than the traditional DA's. The 3401 has an orbit of 5/16"(8mm), well, so does the Griot's 6" and G110v2(not sure about the PCXP). So, since all 3 have the same orbit length, they will have the exact same random orbit motion?
