I have a Toyota fj cruiser coming up and I heard they lack a clear coat, so what would the polishing process consist of?

It's certainly possible but I can't see why Toyota would go back to single stage paints. It's easy enough to test and if color transfers to the pad then it is a single stage job.

I heard that apparently they used single stage paint on some Evo s to save weight(of the clear coat)! lol

Hey Bobby,
would it then be safer to polish it by hand vs da?

A co-worker's son's '03 Evo is red and single stage paint. My wife's 2010 Honda Fit is Milano Red and is also single stage. I hate it that my white pads are pink.

A PTG will definitely help!

And SS paints are thicker! So I don't see any probs in using a DA.

I guess you should try to assess whether the paint is soft or hard and take the least aggressive approach first!

I did a maroon colored one 2 weeks ago, newer one. It had cc. Used SIP on a flex with an orange ccs pad. Finished near perfectly with no surprises.

I'm not sure on the other colors have ss or bc paint.

Only additional issue here might be that the pads might need to be cleaned more frequently during the process!

Will the paint leave a residue on the pad?

The pad will definitely pick up the paint's color in a SS paint!

The same thing happens with a clear coated paint but its not that apparent!(as cc is colorless)

I've done an '08 black one. It was BC/CC.
