How's it going fellas? I just received a call in regards to detailing a dump truck. I'm not afraid at all, actually looking forward to the challenge, however, i've never done any work like this before. I honestly do not know where to start... I've seen this customers trucks before and he typically keeps them clean( no excessive dirt, mud, concrete etc).

First off: What type of services should I offer him? I asked what he was looking for and he simply said, "just make'em clean"

Secondly: How would you price a job like this?

Last but not least, am I biting off more than I can chew? Honestly, the largest vehicle I've done to date is a 10 passenger limo, and that damn thing took 16 hours...

What do you guys think???Feed back please

Don't clay it just use an all in one like Klasse or a cleaner wax and also ask what he means by "just clean it up". It's a dump truck so I doubt he wants alot done with it. A cleaner wax and maybe a quick interior clean and that should do it. Charge what you would normally do and 3x it because of the size and your time.

Yeah, wash, cleaner wax and flash interior clean should be sufficient, I Think...
Thanks guys...

I use Poorboy's Polish with Sealant (PWS) for jobs like that. I spent 2 hours on this van with orange pad and a Flex 3401 using PWS. Although it needed clayed the customer said just make it shiney because he was just flipping this van and didn't want to spend much money.

What about aluminum polishing? Also tilting the dump body and pressure washing the frame. Lot's to clean on heavy trucks!

Sorry for this slight hijack. On a different note, how is PWS? Did it leave any marring with the orange pad?

What type of dump truck is it ( small chevy/ford size or peterbuilt sized)? If the dump body is painted, watch out for very thin coatings.

Sounds to me like he just wants them washed.

no marring that I had seen but the sealant would most likely have hidden it if there was. That is why I use it on service trucks and such. Cheap, very quick and looks great. PWS will remove tar and sap too.
