Anybody going to go see Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader when it comes out?

I'm going to go see a pre-release of it, since they are having it in Knoxville (headquarters of Regal Cinemas). The theater where they are showing it is only 30-40 minutes away from my house. This is the first of two U.S. premieres. Actor Skandar Keynes (who played Edmund Pevensie) and actress Georgie Henley (who played Lucy Pevensie) will be in attendence. This is from Wikipedia:

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader will premiere on November 30, 2010 in London (http://en.wikipedia.org/####/London) at the Royal Film Performance (http://en.wikipedia.org/####/Royal_Film_Performance). It will mark the first time the Royal Film Performance will be screened in Digital 3-D and the second time a Narnia film will premiere at the event, the first being The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe in 2005.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/####/The_Chronicles_of_Narnia:_The_Voyage_of_the_Dawn_T reader#cite_note-BBCNews.co.uk-0) It will be given a pre-release gala on December 8 in Knoxville, Tennessee (http://en.wikipedia.org/####/Knoxville,_Tennessee) followed by a North American premiere on December 9, 2010.[65] (http://en.wikipedia.org/####/The_Chronicles_of_Narnia:_The_Voyage_of_the_Dawn_T reader#cite_note-64)
The film was originally set to have a May 2009 release date when Disney was still producing it.[15] (http://en.wikipedia.org/####/The_Chronicles_of_Narnia:_The_Voyage_of_the_Dawn_T reader#cite_note-Peter_Gilstrap-14) But was later delayed when Disney pulled itself and Fox helmed the production. Fox later announced a December 2010 release date because it felt that NarniaDigital 3D (http://en.wikipedia.org/####/Digital_3D), RealD 3D (http://en.wikipedia.org/####/RealD_3D) and 2D formats in North America and Europe on December 10, 2010.[66] (http://en.wikipedia.org/####/The_Chronicles_of_Narnia:_The_Voyage_of_the_Dawn_T reader#cite_note-65) will do better during the holidays. It will be released in Asia and Australia on December 3, 2010 and have its major release

Isn't that a cartoon?

No, at least not anymore. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe came out in 2005, followed by Prince Caspian in 2008.

I've been a fan of the Chronicles of Narnia books for a long time. C. S. Lewis is one of my favorite writers. I have fond memories reading these books to my children.

I was very pleased with both of the films (though I still think Liam Neeson is the wrong voice for Aslan), and am looking forward to the third film. My fear is that Voyage of the Dawntreader will not translate well to the screen, as the story is more episodic than the other Narnia tales. I hope that my fear proves groundless. I really want this movie to do well, so that studio will want to continue on with the series. I believe that the Silver Chair is scheduled next, assuming that Dawntreader proves a success. The Silver Chair is one of my favorite Narnia tales.

Well Al, you're only about 4 and 1/2 hours away. Why don't you drive down to Knoxville and come see it with me? :props:

Well, went to go see the new Chronicles of Narnia movie tonight - this was the only premiere of this movie in the United States, so I thought that was pretty cool. They said they raised around $450,000 or so for Variety, so that was cool as well. Just an FYI, Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley both flew in from London to attend this premiere, so that was cool as well. Also, this was an excellent movie - just as good as the first two. If you're thinking about going to see it when it comes out, do it. You will not be disappointed. Here are some pics I took. Enjoy!

Robin Wilhoit, local news anchor for Channel 10 news (an affiliate of the CBS television network), was the MC for the event and was on hand to introduce the stars

Sorry this picture didn't turn out so great, but from left to right: Amy Miles (CEO and director for Regal Cinemas), Carol Fusco (I believe that was her name, executive director for the East Tennessee chapter of Variety), Greg Dunn (President and COO for Regal Cinemas), and I can't remember who the guy on the end was, but he was some bigwig with 20th Century Fox.

they had screens up on the wall showing the stars as they were making their way in - this is Georgie Henley (played Lucy Pevensie)

Regal presented them with stone plaques with their names engraved in them - they will remain at the theater. There are other plaques in front of the theater with the names of other actors and actresses, recognizing them for their role(s) in particular movies. These plaques will join the others.

Well, that's all I have - wish I had more, but kinda hard to do when there are hundreds of people crowded around you. And I was 3 or 4 people deep from the front! Oh well. That's the way it goes sometimes, I guess. Thanks for looking! :xyxthumbs:

Also, here is a local news video covering the premiere with some footage of the actors outside the theatre:

That's so cool. I wish I could have been there. I tried to persuade my son, who lives in Knoxville, to attend the premiere; but unfortunately he's not a fan of the Narnia stories. Too bad.

I'm glad to hear that you weren't disappointed by the movie. I'm looking forward to seeing it this weekend (hopefully).

It's funny to watch these young kids grow up, same with the Harry Potter movies. I remember how little that girl was in the first movie.
