Using a member's Posting History to find an answer (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/tips-techniques-how-articles-interacting-discussion-forums/30453-using-member-s-posting-history-find-answer.html)

Have you ever read something posted by another forum member but then forgot their answer? Here's a way you can sometimes find the answer you're looking for by searching through a member's Posting History

First, locate them in the "Online Users" box or by a post they've made and click on their name and go to their "Profile" page.

I'll use my Profile page as an example.

Once you get to the person's Profile page, click on the button that reads, Show All Statistics

After the Profile page refreshes and shows all their statistics, next click on the link that reads,

"Find all posts by Name of Forum Member"

This will bring up lists and multiple pages for all the posts they've made to a forum. Note this works this way on any vBulletin forum.

Now you can read through all their posts and search for that information you were looking for or you can get a good look at their professionalism as a detailer or even their online personality.

For example, if you're looking for a Professional Detailer to detail your car, you can search for posts by a forum member showing cars they've detailed and this can help you to decide whether or not to hire them to detail your car.

You can also get a good idea of their online personality or character as people will tend to establish patterns that express themselves via what they write in a public forum.

Sorry for the large pictures, I didn't want to shrink them as that would distort the text and I wanted them to be reflective of how the screen will look on your computer as you try this technique anytime you want to search someone's posting history.

Quite true... thanks for pointing that out... I use that tip all the time, of course, the more posts you have means you might have to sift through more pages of threads but if you find what you're looking for then it's worth it.

Here's two other little handy tips for working inside of vBulletin that come in handy...

How to expand the message box (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/tricks-tips-techniques/23245-how-expand-message-box.html)

How to use the "Editor Mode" to break a single quoted message up into smaller quoted sections (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/off-topic/20690-how-use-editor-mode-break-single-quoted-message-up-into-smaller-quoted-sections.html)

Just some tips I use that I thought might help others...

There is another way of doing this search. Simply click on the username in any thread, when the drop box comes down click on "Fine more posts by ..."

:)
