How would you guys go about removing this? This stuff is real hard so it has been on here a long time. Any recommended products or processes that will not melt the plastic under the adhesive?

WD-40 always works for me. You might just want to try hot water and a toothbrush first. I'm not sure what WD-40 would do to that area of the dash. You would probably just end up with a really clean spot that doesn't match.

Goo Gone - but I would test on an inconspicuous area first

Try hot water and a brush or coarse rag first, then try Goo Gone (its great stuff, works great for getting gum off your shoes too). I don't know about WD40, be careful.

I would definitely try to soak it prior. You mentioned that it's hardened, so I'd take a wash cloth (or MF) and soak it with hot water (maybe even microwave it for a lil bit to get it pretty hot). Then lay the cloth on the area for 5 minutes or so. Then go at it with your cleaner. I think your definitely going to need more than just hot water, but I've never tried to clean duct tape residue off a dash before!

Good luck and let us know how it turns out and what method you ended up going with. Just in case I ever come across something like this!

Fast orange hand cleaner works pretty good too!

3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner would be my go-to choice. Just let it soak for a minute or two before trying to scrub it off.

Thanks for all the replies. I will be doing a write up on this job with lots of pics so I'll be sure to list my process and product to remove this stuff after I get it done.

Goo Gone FTW. Definitely give that stuff a shot. I really like it.

Spritz it with denatured alcohol and use a terry cloth towel with denatured alcohol on it and rub away. It also takes paint scrapes off cars, sticky residue left by price tags and bumper stickers.

All of the suggestions will work just fine. I agree that it should be tried on an area that is not easily seen first.

If you have some Naptha that will work well too. It loosens almost any glue residue that I've come across. And it is safe to use even on clear plastics.

Krud Kutter either on its own or soaked in a magic eraser and done VERY gently. Try the KK first, it'll probably do it all on its own. It's amazing stuff.
