Has anyone else found it difficult to get your pad clean when using New Formula Optimum Compound? It is not soluble in the wash solution like other products that I have used. Micro-Restore and Snappy Clean is what I use.

You may want to use the XMT cleaner iv had good luck with it...............All though I havent used any Optimum.
I'm sure some of the Optimum users will post.
The XMT is good stuff though!!

in a pinch you could use a little APC, but I too like the XMT Pad Cleaner.

I havent used OC yet but I have used #84 which is a real heavy cut Meguiars compound... it absorbed deep into the pad I use. I use XMT cleaner religiously... I had zero issues completely cleaning my pads after using #84 compound. One warning though.. XMT pad cleaner is pretty strong stuff... it will take your breath away like amonia does. My wash room is pretty small with very little ventilation and when washing half a dozen pads the smell can kinda get to you.. but in the end it does its job superbly.

My process with the XMT cleaner is spritz the pad several times, use my hand to lightly push it into the pad, let is set for 5-10 minutes, then rinse with warm-hot water. Its amazing how even after using compound on a black single stage the pad still comes out looking new.

I have the old version of OC, I just spray with some APC and sit in water with snappy clean, works for me. But I'll pickup some XMT Cleaner next time after what everyone says about it.

Is there a reason nobody uses dishsoap to clean pads?

I use dishsoap and no ill effects here and seems to work fine on stains. I use regular Dawn.

I use Blue Dawn too. Ever since I switched from Zaino to a pc, I found a different use for the Dawn...cleaning the pads! Just agitate the pads in Dawn and rinse.

how often does eveyone clean/switch pads while they are polishing? i recently got my PC and was using ssr 2.5 seemed like i had to stop very frequently maybe it was just because it was a little too cold out...

Very difficult to rinse out (all that foam).

Also, I know some manufacturers say that dish soap will deteriorate the glue that holds the velcro onto the foam.
