Ok so what does everyone use for vacuums?

I am looking into getting something with some power and available accessories to get into the small areas. I looked at the Metro VAC N GO 500 Plus 3 Ft. Flexible Hose & Filters (http://www.autogeek.net/metro-vac-500-plus-hose.html)

it seems like a decent unit, but i have found a few by Shop-Vac and Rigid that are also small portable units but seem to have a bit more power and all the available accessories.

here are links to the ones i was looking at

Shop Shop-Vac 5-Gallon 5.5 Peak HP Heavy-Duty Portable Shop Vac at Lowes.com (http://www.lowes.com/pd_127133-20097-5872411_4294857472_4294937087_?productId=1009777&Ns=p_product_price|0&pl=1&currentURL=/pl_Shop%2BVacuums_4294857472_4294937087_%3FNs%3Dp_ product_price|0)

they are the same price roughly but the shop vac has a much higher peak hp. now i dont know much about vacuums. so i dont even know if that really means anything. but I am looking for a decent vac that doesnt take up alot of room and id prefer to be able to suck up water if i can. plus that shop vac is also a blower. to aid in drying.

So what do you guys use.

I have a Rigid that I'm happy with. It not small but it has plenty of power to get the job done. Oh and it was cheap and has a lifetime warranty.

Speaking of the warranty the lady at the checkout counter asked me if I wanted to buy an extra 2 year warranty with it... I really wanted to reach across the counter and smack her in the head :D

I like that little 5 gallon Shop vac you listed I might go pick one up for lowes. Though you said it comes with a lot of attachments.. I only see 3 attachments there and none that has a brush on the end for leather and vinyl

Vacuums are rated in inches of water lift. How high It can raise a column of water in a tube. Now I am sure it is a certain diameter tube, but nonetheless, HP is only one factor of how powerful vacuum is.

Okay So I went to lowes to check out the vacuum and they had a shelf above it with all these attachments alot cheaper than the link you posted. So get your attachments there. Also they had LOTS of attachments. they had ones that went down sooo tiny in size there perfect for detailing.

You can see compared to the size of my finger how small the attachments get. I hope to get this vacuum in the near future.

Awesome, those attachments though are for 1.25" Hose and the vacuum in question is 1.50" hose. although they do make reducers and I am also sure they have a very similar kit available for that size hose as well.

Great Find!

I found the Water lift. it is 59" and for this model it is 60"

Shop-Vac® :: Vacs (http://www.shopvac.com/vacs/detail.asp?ID=249&HdnSource=index&StoreID=)

also check this out.
Shop Shop-Vac Bucket Max at Lowes.com (http://www.lowes.com/pd_49940-20097-6004511_4294857472_4294937087_?productId=3160385&Ns=p_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr|0||p_product_quantity _sold|1&pl=1&currentURL=%2Fpl_Shop%2BVacuums_4294857472_4294937 087_%3FNs%3Dp_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr|0||p_product _quantity_sold|1)
Shop Vac apparently makes a bucket vac too! and water lift is around 54"

i think the original one i posted is the best for the money. 59" water lift and 5.5hp. seems like a great set up for its size.

most likely. that or another one i found, exact same design but 6.5hp and comes with a wall mount bracket. the included accessories are not terribly important. since Lowes and Shop-Vac sell a Car Cleaning Kit that comes with hoses, crevice tools and many others for around $25.00
